Shame on This Community: I Tried GGG...
I tried GGG. I defended you and I'm still in your corner, but I'm so outnumbered by these zombies with their incoherent 'reasoning'... What happened to his community? When did we all become such whiny babies?
This is a game, yet people get so angry over nothing rather than having fun. I honestly don't understand it. This community used to have a spirit of discovery. But now people are too stubborn to learn anything new. They are actually SPITEFUL about having to learn something new. It's a shame really. Learning how to play PoE has always been viewed as one of its greatest FEATURES imo. But I suppose many people here don't agree. Well anyway... It's not like I have ANY friends here lol. But just wanted to tell you that I'm quitting the forum. No hard feelings. But honestly you all just seem like a hoard of Orcs and I'm Legolos looking sexy as hell out here shooting you in the leg, splitting your skulls one by one but you just keep coming. Each cry baby making even less sense than the last one. I ask myself, what's the point? Arguing with you isn't something I want to do since you all are so knuckle headed that you refuse to see any sense. So long. I'll try to remember the days when this forum was actually sane. Peace Boem... er I mean BearCares. Last bumped on Apr 9, 2019, 7:56:49 AM

BETA
Spoiler
Forum is mostly negative because no one enjoying the game comes here to tell how much fun he has.
There are legitimate problems but overall the game is great, i agree.

" I think you might be wearing some rose tinted glasses with respect to how this community was. The community has always been filled with this type of negativity with some occasional beacons of positivity from what I recall. Hell, there was an entire thread dedicated to the sky falling negativity of this forum. That thread was by far my favorite -- I wish the OP was still actively maintaining it. I've come to the conclusion that in large part content players play the game. The jilted move on or come here to spread their misery. If you look at the number of discrete complainers here, there is not a lot relative to the entire player base and I suspect several of them are the same person trying to appear like they have consensus through several accounts. When you combine free accounts (easy to vomit on something that can't be taken from you) with a forum that has zero community controls for vitriol aside from reporting, you get this. My single biggest regret with this game was venturing into General Discussion and that was probably in the 2013 timeframe. Thanks for all the fish! Every forum, in every game, at any time in my life, is exactly like this.
I dont understand why you people get surprised. Is this the only game you play? Every forum generally consists of white-knights and complainers. 2 sides of the coin. This forum has typically been HEAVILY white-knight favored. GGG generally can do no wrong, or at least that was how it was in the past. Nowadays, there are more complainers. So be it. There are reasons for it. I'm personally of the feeling the game has gotten worse over time, and its more of a PoE succeeds in spite of the decisions GGG makes, instead of because of the decisions they make. Some Blizzard games are exactly like this, and other companies to. The game is good enough to be able to shrug off poor decisions from the powers that be. So yea, as I get 2 chayula shards from those unicorn breaches they have nearly removed from the game, and see 87 1 alch unique drops as I step into one of the worst leagues in recent memory, and how much worse the trade system has gotten because of bots/fixers/RMT, I can see why people complain more than white-knight nowadays. @Nubatron
People used to be very respectful in closed beta. Even the world chat was filled with genuine advice. The 20c price check meme wasnt born yet. I hate this meme. I remember better days. You have to remember to chase and catch your dreams, because if you don't, your imagination will live in empty spaces, and that's nowhere land.

" You had to be respectful otherwise you could get blacklisted and not be able to trade with people or do anything of note. Not like today's game where I can cuss people out here, scam 500 people, price fix and even swipe that credit card if I so choose and face zero real consequences. Just load up another account. Instead being forced to attach a persona to one like CB. Expecting that kind of community to stick around in a F2p anonymous game is reaching a bit. That type of community was never going to last. I mean Chris Wilson used to talk in General chat back then. Closed beta's are almost always like that. Little gardens of eden before the real shitstorm hits. Especially in F2p games. I know they wont last, so if you manage to get into one just enjoy it for what it is. |

Don't defend GGG. Defend the cases and arguments you believe in. If they happen to be shared by GGG, fine, good for you. But to defend anyone you don't know based on principles, is just... Naive.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Ya, this "game is too complex" QQing? What the hell, give it a rest people. This is the whole focus of GGG. To make the top arpg in terms of complexity and difficulty. Complexity = variety (near infinite build diversity). Even if you view challenge leagues as "only meta race league builds are viable" or bust making 99% of possible builds worthless to use, this is what PoE is. Not kind of some Whimseyshire arpg.
Computer gaming is entertainment. Many will love the challenge and required thinking necessary to successfully play PoE. Many will not. If you are in the "PoE is too hard, it's no fun to play" group then this isn't the arpg you are looking for. Move along. But BearCares is right that the PoE general discussion forum has degraded to mostly negative threads. In some ways GGG has made a mess of PoE in terms of going down the racing/shooter path and have lost their way. If racer/shooter PoE is getting them more players thus more mtx then GGG is chasing the money trail and making their overlords, Tencent happy so they are trapped and can't go back to their founding game ideals of producing "the arpg we would most like to play". The saying "you can never go back" (Time machine, Land That Time Forgot, etc.) is true for GGG and PoE. But if many veterans are at the end of their playing run of PoE then it was inevitable that this day would eventually come. Nothing lasts forever. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

" Closed beta being cordial further supports my point: " You had something to lose; your account. The community was also so small that they had methods to handle bad community members that they developed from within including blacklisting. Those methods don't work when the community is significantly larger with moving targets (free accounts). Now we have free accounts and a community so large that grass root efforts to uproot bad seeds is a gigantic act of futility. If there is a good answer to this, GGG would be the first to find it. Game forums are incestuous piles of negativity that feed upon itself. Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Apr 7, 2019, 8:05:01 AM
