" The problem is that GGG doesn't provide the most optimal conditions for testing the game. At 1.0x XP gain it takes an enormous amount of time to level up your characters. And PoE testing (alpha, beta) has been going on for a long time - almost a year or something? I can understand people like Kramerrr who invest so much time getting fed up and frustrated with constant legacy transfers and the imminent deletion for another phase (open beta). While I am not actively playing PoE beta I have been beta testing other games extensively in the past and I realized that my (free) time is very valuable and thus I simply don't want to spend 50-100+ hours of my free time grinding beta characters (that will get deleted anyway - multiple times) just to get to higher levels and difficulties. Beta testing provides mutual benefits to game developers and players. Players get some enjoyment from playing the game for free and in return they provide valuable feedback so developers can improve the game - BUT beta testing is not a job. I would like to see some of the things like this implemented into beta: - Optional legacy migrations If for whatever reason legacy migration is required you could get 2 options - you could chose to stay in the default league and have all your invalid items deleted, and secondly you could agree to legacy migration and keep your old and invalid items. - Fast leagues 5.0x, 10.0x or whatever XP multipliers leagues. The goal of every beta is to improve the final game. And every tester could be testing more classes and higher range of difficulties than wasting time grinding their characters. Yes it's true that 1.0x league also provides valuable feedback because content needs to be fine tuned for intended levels. But fast leagues would also have so much advantages. - Free skill resets Again, it takes way to long to get your characters leveled up and most people don't have the time or desire to level up multiple characters and test various number of builds. With free skill resets people could test practically limitless number of skill variations and provide 100x times more valuable feedback. So yea, my question is - what is the main goal of beta testing? And is the current system really the best way? |

" Pointless post. The comments are at the very least valid to him/her. People may even agree; that's far from pointless and worth discussion. Even posting why you disagree can be helpful, your post was not. |

basically what i got from your post
1. you don't like the fact that a game in beta undergoes changes 2. you want there to be a bunch of fancy death animations and are upset that the devs are working on actual content instead of flashy animations. Yeah okay... |

Sad how many so called testers didnt even read this thread. despite the fact that he put up very detailed explanations for everything.
This wasnt a rant. |

You make some excellent points. I can particularly relate to this part
" I guess this must be pretty common because, when I think about it, finding the perfect cookie cutter build is my main motivation for playing the game. And it's very addictive, in fact, it's what kept me playing D2 for almost 10 years. Maybe that's why it's so interesting to be in a beta, because the conditions keep changing for each patch and you try to find the perfect build every time. I don't understand why people are bashing your post because I thought it was very constructive to explain exactly what made you quit playing, that kind of feedback is gold for GGG because keeping people playing is the base of their whole business model, since there will be no initial fee to get the game. |

" It took me 2 days(not actual game time)to get to Maelstrom of Chaos (the endgame of beta), how is this an "enormous" amount of time? Keep in mind this was my first HC character and my second character overall (first was Witch and quit at level 22), so I didn't have OP stash gear and stuff. Overall his post was a very good read, most of the stuff you touched upon could be well placed in the suggestions thread. Stuff like death animations would really spice up the game, but don't expect it to happen right now. They are still touching up weapon models and art everywhere, this is a true beta not like most betas these days that have a full product that has been done for months and they are simply limiting what you can access. The reason we are limited is because it hasn't even been created yet (act 3). Like Programmer said if you viewed the death penalty in normal league like a death in hardcore you would be more considerate. Play the game like you should never die and you don't have to worry about such a thing. Last edited by Vyluis#1238 on Mar 30, 2012, 3:42:35 PM
