Bye bye POE

OP, you should never have participated in a testing beta in the first place. You ignored repeated warnings and common-sense observations that there would be bugs and that you shouldn't get attached to your characters. Every single problem you experienced with PoE is your own fault. Try to keep all of this mind for the next time you're considering signing up for a beta.

While I play the game completely different from the OP I do think it was a good post. One comment though: I'm not sure what has been communicated but I assume and hope builds that are able to one-hit everything while being invincible will continue to be nerfed from time to time no matter what version number we're on.
For me this beta is about figuring out what type of character I want to play in the long haul, and if I find some good OP builds in the process then thats just icing on the cake.
All the people bashing on the OP have problems, and the irony is he thinks he's a terrible tester yet provides insightful feedback (opinions on gameplay design) whereas the bashers think they are wondrous game testers and provided feedback below uselessness (rage).

Sounds like you're very self-aware, realizing that you may be here for reasons other than testing.

- Optional legacy migrations

- Fast leagues

- Free skill resets
So yea, my question is - what is the main goal of beta testing? And is the current system really the best way?

I don't think we need optional migrations, resetting the economy after major changes (all currencies and gear) is a good way to put the game at its realistic starting point and see how progression works on the new patch. Same with keeping characters, who can judge the new progression / difficulties if everyone is already over leveled the endgame content? It forces beta testers to do their job, test.

Fast leagues? It took my character ~25 in game hours to complete end game content I'm not sure it needs to go any faster. Also if you boost xp you will gain zero information of consequence since you will be perma-overleved and any gameplay you do experience cannot serve as any useful input for the game.

Free skill resets? This is an idea I've mentioned before and can definitely get behind. The more people testing as many builds as possible, the faster things that are too weak / too strong will come to the forefront, not to mention more abstract keystone combinations in the shortest time revealing mechanics not functioning as intended.
I like the game and am not going to leave but I'm definitely not spending as much time in it as I was. It just feels like it's a game focused around grinding, wait, it is a game focused around grinding. Majority of the game mechanics are designed around grinding, example the currency system, weapon mods, skill gems. It's not these mechanics themselves that are "grindy" it's how they're introduced and how to achieve maximum efficiency you have to grind, whether it be collecting 20x GCP or fusing to attempt your preferred gem slots.. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it's a bad system or one that doesn't work. It works great and a lot of people like it, but for me, it requires far too much time and dedication.

Entering a game and doing the same repetitive measures to get something that has specific mods, while most other mods are considered worthless to you, doesn't make me feel like I'm accomplishing anything, more so wasting time. Maybe it's because of the flood of useless items, useless mods and how they battle this with the currency system by giving you the option to re-roll the mods. Well you have to grind to even have the opportunity to re-roll the mods. I'm really not trying to bash, and I realize all the points I've made are negative, but it's just how I perceive the game at the moment and I realize this is beta but these are core mechanics. I'll still be checking in and out, to kill some time here and there but overall that's what I fear; that this game, too me, will just end up being something to "kill" time with instead of having the feeling of "investing" time into. And to me that's what makes a video game great or good, do you have the feeling of accomplishment and that your time isn't being wasted, or is it something just to mildly entertain you while you wait for something else to come along. Does anyone else feel slightly the same way?

GGG's design philosophy in three words:
Quantity over Quality.
The search for an imbalanced build does help the game progress. It highlights balance issues with skills, passives, weapon modifiers, etc. Things like this could be massively exploited when the doors open up, and it is good to find them when it is just a smaller amount of people playing.
Cu some other time Kramerr :)
The only fact i can agree is the "more blood plz".

The rest is just false idea of the game.
I understand that it hurts to lose an inofficial race.

- the endgame condent is just temporarily for the hardcore ones to keep them busy and it does the job well
- better than no endgame and just 12 or 15 levels
- its not supposed to be a glasscanonbuild only game
- pick up only dps passives shall be hard?
- defenses are also dps increase because you can withstand more dmg and keep your dps up
- defenses need to have an equal impact to the game like dmg
- they try different balancing systems and why should this be bad?
- your chars aren't deletet like in other "demos"
- you can play them again, respec them due free respecs and so on

And finaly......

.... THIS IS BETAAAAAAAA!!! :>
English is my third language, there will be bugs.
So sad that you're having drama over this. :*(
I would like also a way to identify when I hit a crit other than watch when I 2shot and when I 1shot a mob a more crazy/flashy animation for example it would be welcome, also agree with the more blood & blood trail point, and as I have already suggest in some other post of mine I would like to see more flashy appearance of the last boss on every dungeon, some scripted event will make the battle more exciting and I would prefer if the boss surprise/scare u in some way when u encounter it for the first-time, first time experience/impression is very important imo and they can do much more to improve this field.
