Grinding Gear Games Exposed: The true goal of Path of Exile.

Path of Exile deceivingly portrays itself as a simple online computer game but it's true nature is actually much deeper than that.. But not in the way you would think it to be. It is actually a cleverly disguised rehabilitation mechanism for people who suffer from Hoarding disorder.
That is right, just as Jun unveils items I am unveiling GGG's true nature. Why they chose to take up this cause is not yet clear but it is clear they have and here is why.

As you know after mapping there are more rares on the ground than there are roaches at an all you can eat buffet in a 30 dollar motel kitchen.
This is tempting you to pick them up and identifying them to see if there is that slim chance you could have found something worth selling. YOU ARE WRONG. While not exactly hoarding per say it definitely appeals to the hoarder mentality of what if I can use this. To prevent the littering of rares they could simply reduce the drop rate by 90% of rares and make it so anything unidentified cannot roll affixes 3 tiers less than their maximum. Crafting would have no change. So lets say you chaos a rare you found it could have lowest tier possible after use.

GGG has a strong desire to punish you for picking up items which is exactly why they have not implemented a feature where you can offload items that belong into a speciality tab such as the Currency, Maps, Essences, Divinations, ect tabs with a hotkey or a button. They could but they want to punish you for picking up and trying to keep things by making you spend a good portion of your gameplay manually placing things in their respective tabs.

Finally to really prove my theory.... Currency shards, essences, fragments, ect. There are more different types of items in this game than there are people on this planet. They are all tempting you to pick them up and keep them pandering to the hoarder that resides in your heart.

In short, just say no. Load the strictest item filter you can find and run with it. Otherwise you will just want to quit the "game" like I have.

Thanks for your service GGG. You have helped my hoarding disorder. I can finally move on.

But does the game spark joy in your heart when you pick it up?

If not, uninstall it.

Love and kisses

Marie Kondo

Not really. As you see in my post I said I am moving on. I love the passive tree and skill gems but playing inventory management simulator just makes it not worth my time anymore.

I been playing this off and on since there were only 3 acts. They've improved a lot but I have a feeling they will never improve this aspect of the game. They are too busy making new content instead of taking some time to fix what already exists.

Since I don't know who that is or really care who it is, I didn't think anything of it.

It was a joke, dude. I'm not actually Marie Kondo.

OR AM I?

Now, Marie dear, please stop confusing people.

Damn it Charan, stop making silly threads entertaining. I hardly know who she is either, but apparently she's known for her organizational skills.

But these overly dramatic thread titles...
Yep, totally over league play.
1. Promotes hoarding disorder
2. Promotes gambling
3. Promotes scamming

..some else?
Why is it so hard for some people to just leave instead of posting a pointless rant.
There was a thread on reddit regarding the loot spam, but I can't seem to find it right now. If I remember correctly, GGG said something along the lines of "we know it is a problem, but upon investigating it we found that it can not be so easily fixed." Maybe it has something to do with animate weapon builds or prevalence of low bases.

Anyways, it is probably one of those things they have already decided on.
I got the Marie Kondo reference! :3

Marnie scoffed at Kondo’s most famous tip, that one should throw away anything that doesn’t bring joy.

“Everything fucking gives me joy!” she said.

The popularity of Kondo’s method might have raised awareness of hoarding, said Elias Aboujaoude, the director of the OCD Clinic at Stanford University, but the approach also risks oversimplifying hoarding and its causes.

There's a (assuredly real) method for assessing hoarding disorder that involves looking at a graphic and comparing what level the person is at -

Someone who's a dab hand with MSPaint or equivalent could have fun with PoE-ifying it, perhaps.

The last one "75 remove - only tabs in various shades of hideous greens, reds, and pinks"?
