Comparison Shots of Delve with Dx9 without Shadows and Dx11 with Shadows.
" I am running on Win7HP with 8GB Ram and AMD 6730M 2GB. DX9ex give me the stable fps needed vs DX11, while in big cluster of mobs. DX11 is just not good enough. If they can somehow improve DX11 to a point where its the same as DX9ex, i wouldn't mind at all. But can they? Perm. Retired from this unforgiving land of the Exiles.

The world moves on and so does the technology. Don't expect your wooden computers to last forever. If we want Path of Exile to evolve they need to let go of the old stuff to be able to focus on optimising the new. Having that said, they kind of shot themselves in the foot launching the game on non-pc platforms. It restricts/will restrict the decisions they can make when it comes to evolving the enging/graphics

The chances are better, I would think, when they don't have to focus on 17 years old APIs. Look, I'm not advocating that Dx11 is the savior of mankind. But they can now funnel their focus more. There is not even a discussion to be had in my mind.
You should be able to turn shadows off. Think about it. A ton of people have potatoes that drop frames. Now i get real serious. There is a child in africa (potato user) and he suffers from polio (dropping frames). As a sane person it is your duty to give the child the polio vaccine (shadow option). Nuff said yall. You have to remember to chase and catch your dreams, because if you don't, your imagination will live in empty spaces, and that's nowhere land.

Maybe instead whining about shadows get actual PC instead playing on 20 years old microwave.
Game devs have no obligation to hinder their game for couple people that use their grandma PC. (they already said couple times that keeping game "optimized" for direx9 just hold them down, they finally decided to sink that boat) |
