+1.

We need a revamp. I'm positive the answer is not an auction house, at least not what a modern auction house in modern games are/imply... But something really needs to change.
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

Years later, still debating about economy in PoE on a daily basis, and nothing changed due to the eternal dev bubble syndrom.

Anyway not giving up on that, see you tommorow.
Hf :)
Haha unique player driven economy. Proud of. They should be proud of it alright, they are literally doing nothing trade related. Zero. An independent website needed to be created to ease the pain because they couldn't be bothered to do anything themselves. This is the laziest trade system I've seen in a multiplayer game.

Doesn't even have this so called advantage of being a deterrent for bots, bots are free to do what they want.

Take a country, remove the police, remove the judicial system, get rid of the laws, after some time(and much smoke and robbed stores) different societies will form within which abide by their own rules and do stuff on their own. See, things are happening. People are moving, goods are being exchanged, its all good if you look at it as an overall thing.

In real world, you can punish or kill someone (whether it legal or not - that's another thing). In PoE, you cant - that's the core difference. That's why layers cant take things into their own hands, and fix flawed system.

There is no knowledge
That is not power

You can only punish them if you have power yourself. In a world without laws it'll be fairly easy to find yourself powerless.

Connect the fuckin' dots. They always wanted the Wild West, not Wall Street. And as many problems as this Wild West might have, the sterilisation into a form of Wall Street would have major adverse effects of the game, some of which players can see, some of which they cannot. Hence 'acceptable collateral damage'.

They always wanted the Wild West, not Wall Street? So now they have pure Wall Street now. Or Vaal Street, we are in PoE after all. Current situation is just like situation back in 1988, in former “soviet bloc”. Currency of former “soviet bloc” countries was unconvertable shit, which couldn’t be exchanged for real money (dollars) in bank. Only way to obtain dollars was to sell “shit local currency” to “street flippers”, with some terrible rate (workers monthly salaries for 10 dollars). Or, if you were smart enough and had some connections to government, you could produce something, what you could sell abroad, for dollars, then sell dollars to flippers, with huge profit, but pay your employees in “shit local currency”. It was worst then Wall Street. It was “communistic Wall Street”. Same issue is in PoE now. Can you exchange “shitty currency” (chaos) for “dollars” (exalts) in vendor shops? No, you cant. You can only farm “dollars”, like… 20-30 per league, or you can “buy” them for your shitty currency from flippers or… from RMT shop for real money. Or you can “earn” in chaos, then “produce” something, which can be sold for exalts. Wild West? Forget it. These plans crushed pitifully :)

If you're one of those "just go play SSF" for an answer guys then this post isn't for you.

Actually it is. I'd like to be able to buy vaal orbs instead of running maze when i run out. I even shape that stupid map because I vaal every red map so I dont run out ever.

Anyway second point about trade postings isnt. but I agree with that too.
