You know there is a serious problem when Betrayal players end up playing Betrayal like STD league.

There are a large number of Betrayal players skipping all Betrayal content simply by proc'ing a Syndicate Laboratory in a map and then never completing it so it proc's in all maps.
That way they can level and progress through the Atlas without the high risk of being one-shot and losing invaluable EXP. You want to get to L95+? This is what a large number of players are doing. Skipping. The. F'N. League. Mechanic. Entirely. And I don't blame them. That is a serious problem. GGG you made an interesting league with lots of content. But Betrayal is a total cluster fuck that needs to be toned the F down. The one-shot mechanics in high tier maps are cheap, brutal, and not one ounce of fun. I think it's a great league but yes it is serious. It isn't even the mastermind or safe house encounters that are one shotting people. It's the regular encounters of many needed to further proceed with the content... It's far worse than the incursion chaos projectiles in those instances and people thought that was bad for the time although that was highly avoidable. This isn't really preventable for a large variety of classes and the syndicates don't die right away. Especially if you aren't equipped with adequate gear.

Hard content is fine as long as it's symetrically rewarding but that is not the case.

" At least with something like Incursion, you could skip early - rippy Temples and continue with timed incursions just by going into a Temple and leaving. You could still get good EXP and decent loot from timed Incursions. With Betrayal - you either interact completely or avoid it completely. There is no middle ground. Sure, in a month or so it probably/hopefully won't be as bad but for the first few weeks its a broken ass league mechanic that a large number of players are just outright avoiding. Or leaving the league entirely. That is a big ass problem. Edit: Oh, and im not just talking about casual players avoiding Betrayal encounters. We have so much content now, that skipping something is bound to happen. I like the league, I like the difficulty - although I'm not at red maps yet - I'm sure it gets harder there.
But people play leagues for different reasons, apparently. I sure as hell play leagues to enjoy the new content, so I will never skip it. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Same as pretty much every league since... well, since leagues started. If you want to level to 100 you skip dangerous stuff and have days and days of mind-numbing content. Don't use that style of play as your metric or you've lost your audience. No one cares about the 90+ grind but the 90+ers.
Normal. This league has troubles but no game ending ones for me. The safehouses that I've raided have given good rewards. The in game encounters are a bit over the top, but not so much that they can't be beat. I could use lower health on the adds. Pretty annoying having to deal with a pack of whites that take as long to kill as most rares. |

i think most people just follow generic meta build guides which are fully optimized around dps because there was no challenging content in the past leagues. so they expect to run into the syndicate members and one-shot them. there are enough defensive layers that can protect your build, use them!!!!! and just relying on 6k+ life is no consistent defensive strategy in betrayal
