Don't nerf Syndicate encounters

Tune the syndicate down - WAY DOWN - or give us an option on whether to include syndicate encounters

I've been playing PoE since it first came out. I remember how hard the game used to be. But deaths were fair, not this insta-gib garbage with three syndicate members and their horde of adds blasting you from off-screen with every curse, slow, bleed, poison, aoe - faster than you can flask or run away.

I'm currently lvl 77 with a pretty decent gloomfang magma orb build. Three resistances are overcapped, chaos is out of the negative, have 4K life and 700 es, decent evade and armor. Was running a t1 map (lvl 68) and could not kill tora in a small fort. She gets down to half health, then disappears in that stupid portal, only to come back with full health in a few seconds.

Of course when she does comes back, all my flasks are drained.

This is ridiculous for a lvl 68 map where I can breeze thru all the content, including the boss(es) - which I should be able to do because of the lvl difference, make playing skill, and my gear.

I dunno what you need to do, GGG, and I appreciate you trying to create and develop new content, but syndicate sucks - I just want to turn it off and get more beastiary and delve content that's fun.

And it just sucks more because this syndicate shit is on almost EVERY DAMN map.

I don't want to run a mini "Hall of the Grandmasters" every time I open a new map.

yeah, all those desync deaths sure were "fair." and the unblockable corpse explosions (secondary damage) from bameth/etc... and perhaps double alira, but at least that could be seen coming (vs bameth's spawn into dd frenzy).

those were LEGITIMATELY unfair.

lolz @ yet another story about how someone just literally couldn't finish ____, despite so many players somehow finding a way to do it.

Seeing them comjng back to full life is annoying but isn't that to push players to break in ?
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

I believe there are many more subtle problems with the Syndicate, other than the obvious power creep imbalance.

First of all, I totally applaud GGG for trying to create this pseudo investigative mini-game, because the concept itself is tons of fun. Sadly, it didn't hit the mark. As others have pointed out (maybe not in this thread), it's just a glorified Incursion temple creation, just much more confusing on the surface.

When most of the people still have no idea what they are doing, other than promotion = stronger foe and better drop, and safehouse boss = drops the stuff it says under their name, something is just off.

I'm about to do my 4th Temple run, and I have to agree with people who said Syndicate is basically Incursion 2.0., except it's much more random and tedious to get to the end. The main Temple runs themselves are not much fun, except for the Indiana Jones feeling when you keep checking your map. But it's fine, because the run itself is your reward after the Temple creation, and the fun is in creating it. It's always fast, it's always exhilarating, and you have two very clear choices to pick from - though I don't understand what's the point of plain bad choices vs. good ones.

First of all, the power should be shifted from basic encounters to safehouses. It's absurd how I'm sweating bullets against some syndicate combinations, but when it's time to raid the safehouse, it's just a snoozefest. Also, the raiding itself feels nothing like an actual raid... They did such an amazing job with the voice interactions during Syndicate encounters, I don't know why they let the safehouse raid completely empty, except for one sentence when you enter the "arena". At least the safehouse boss could bloat us that we will never reach them, or scold their other members for helping us get there, anything!

Temple runs absolutely knock safehouse raids out of the water when it comes to the thematic - which is sad, because as I sad earlier, they are not that exciting to begin with either.

I wonder how many people would switch the 1 Syndicate encounter per map ratio to Breach, Abyss, Incursion or Delve encounters. It would be pretty telling.

Edit: Wow, read back a bit... I like how this thread deteriorated into a couple of people essentially bullying the majority for their builds, lol. Get a grip guys. You are gloating level 40 people, who just want to have fun, but oh no, can't have it, because you eased through the content so you are going to tell everyone how good you are. Zzzz.

It does. Fortification is an absolute mess, but the mechanic itself is fun and makes sense.

Yeah, Forts don't actually bother me the way they do others except when they are super tiny, because there's no room to fight in the maps where they spawn so small yet the spawns are still out of control. Otherwise, I think the strategic aspect of them is fine.

and there were plenty of bugs in incursion. and delve (remember the boss rooms that wouldn't open?). you're not making any kind of argument - especially one indicative of nerfing the encounters.
