i think u need a lil bit more than 600 to grasp this game.

Which shows the piss-poor design GGG does.
I got over 2,5k in Steam, not to speak of how much I got before that or after using the Steam client.
Nonetheless I understood the details of the game mechanics after 200-300 hours. Why? Because I looked up every single detail which was relevant to me, still finding bits and bobs of weird mechanics here and there though.

Where's proper documentation of the game mechanics in-game?
Where are the stats GGG has which they could provide to players to make actual decisions?
Where is the proper tutorial to explain every single mechanic from the start to the end of the game?
Where is the overview of mods available in-game?
Where is the...

This list is literally endless by now.
Don't measure someones knowledge by actual in-game time too much, some people like to inform themselves, others... well... others aren't even viable discussion-partners at 10k+ hours.
GGG balance is like getting a pizza which is burnt on the sides, raw in the middle and misses the most of the toppings.
Then upon sending it back you get a raw side, burnt middle and enough toppings to drench everything in grease.
Everything fixed but still broken.
but guyz, it's so much better for elitists when some inexperienced n00b finds the game easy, amirite?

I loved the self learning part of poe.
there were no hints. but these guys are still on the red on their most achievements.
i can easily ignore these players ingame because of their inexperience.
these are the type of players i give chaos when i see how poor they perform ingame.
not all prejudice is bad. sometimes you have the judge ppl from outside.
Trust your mind and strengthen your abilities!
I might be a noob per your standard, but as Kulze mention, no game should need more then 200 hours to know its mechanics and get to end game, not beat it, just getting there.

But powercreeps create a bigger and bigger gap with everyone else trying to enjoy the game.

POE elite: "Does you 1.5M DPS build have 10k life with 5500life on hit with 75% res+35% over and 3 layers of extra defense? No, then its not good enough trash it"
Regular gamer:"What about learning a boss mechanic and patern? Should be able to be good enough with patience right?"
POE elite: "Ha look at this noob trying to learn the game by playing it and being "Patient", what do you think this is? An regular ARPG? Its a loot RPG based on ingoring as much of the game possible"

there are many games you are not even a mid tier player after 1k hours.
like dota 2 or other mmorpgs.

1k hours in a Moba will lead you to be top-tier.

Top-tier in a game is described as the best 5% of the player-base... that's not all too hard, the majority of people are generally on the same level as a chimp, no matter how long they play.

Sure, you won't be 'pro' level, that needs a bit more then time invested, namely talent as well, but you'll be more then 'decent' or 'common'.

As well as most MMO's, I've played Ultima Online, Everquest 1/2, WoW, GW 2, Eve Online, Tibia (fun little one), Runescape, Trove and a few others which I just tested out.
All of those don't need 1k+ hours to get to be knowledgeable and quick... if you know your stuff.

The same goes for other genres, Rogue-likes with ASCII-overlay instead of graphics are often extremely convoluted and mechanically dense. Not helping the fact that their UI usually is abysmal beyond end. Still... the only game I probably ever needed 1k+ hours to learn was Dwarf Fortress, and that only because I was 12 years old when I found it and it changed steadily while not having any sort of proper tutorial for the newest version at that time.

If you're 'only' a mid-tier player in a game after 1k+ hours... you're either not interested in getting top-tier, or you're most likely quite bad at that game.

you're just "inexperienced."

and you "literally have not done anything."

if only n00bs like you and i could handle this very difficult game.

It doesn't matter what tier are you. What matters is in what position you need to be to understand the issues a game might have. In a moba, you can be an average player and still be able to understand flaws in it's design. In an mmo, you usually get a better grasp once you spend some time in doing end game content. In PoE, playing for lots of leagues and also having experience in other games of the same genre, makes it easy to spot those issues, top tier or not.
