Can We Get Rid of Death XP Penalties Already? Games Are Supposed to be Fun
exactly MY point:
YOU decide to play trivial content. you blame the xp penalty for it. lolwut? [Removed by Support]

" I read the first page, for you. It made my head hurt... -- I like the exp penalty, it makes me think about whether I want to try 'X' boss/node whatever, or wait that 20% until I level and try then. Without a penalty, there is no risk to anything, somehow that makes it a little less fun. I don't like the penalty when we have spouts of random crashes, every other patch. Take from that what you will. |

" ...so your problem is with crashes. not sure how that's the XP penalty's fault. [Removed by Support]

Bask in the glory that is people complaining about robmafia. To be fair, robmafia is 100% correct that it is a personal choice to perform easier content. But I think it's equally obvious that the implication is that people want to progress but find the death penalty as a roadblock; but I don't. I think of it as more part of the grind. A death adds up to 10% xp to every level you have to do. That isn't to say I don't sympathize with the mentality though.
The easiest way, but also the most boring way to get to level 100 is to grind unchallenging content. And yes, that is because if you can't keep your deaths to fewer than every 50 maps (more or less depending on map tier and mob density) you simply will not get to level 95, let alone 100. This begs an important question from me. Is the death penalty really the problem? My answer is no. The problem is that the xp gain is just so painfully slow that people want to lash out at anything that hinders their progress. There aren't going to be a lot more level 100s if the death penalty goes, the grind will stop them, count on it. Unfortunately I don't think GGG will ever reduce the grind to 100, because they want the ladder races to be as long as possible while still keeping the top 0.01% interested. " It's not. That's just the instances in which I dislike its existence. I thought that was fairly clear. |

It could be okay to make softcore easier by removing the exp penalty for example and that way urge the competitive part of the softcore player base into hardcore.
I think connecting the hardcore league to the softcore league in the sense that a hardcore death results in a softcore respawn would be great. That way both leagues are more accessible and players will be able to explore both worlds. I'm sure softcore players sometimes want to give it a serious go, with appropriate rewards for completing hard content. While also having their character fall back into softcore if they die, where the rest of their progression is. Also, hardcore players either want to adjust and test their dead characters in softcore or just chill out for a while without having to relevel the same character all the way. |

" Sorry, what? Isn't this how the current system works already? Or is my reading comprehension in need of polishing. English isn't my native tongue so I'm a little confused here right now. Last edited by vmt80#6169 on Oct 30, 2018, 9:33:54 PM
