15 European gambling regulators unite to tackle loot box threat
Not sure why lootboxes are a problem. They are only for those, who can not accept that others spent money on video games, while they can´t.
Buying a stash tab actually gives you a big advantage in the game, yet nobody seems to care about that. But if someone buys a box, it´s all of a sudden a big deal? Cmon, let people spend their money as they want to and be done with it. Less jealousy, more dedication. |

" They are a problem because it's gambling. Are you really that unfamiliar with the concept? Just Google gambling and probl... here, I did it for you; https://goo.gl/kcL73t " What you're describing is envy, and no, it absolutely has nothing, whatsoever, to do with envy. It has to do with a wish to own something more expensive than you can afford via a lottery - it's all about you, no-one else. " Again, it's not about spending, everyone spends, all of us, in one way or another. Spending is not the problem; put up an MTX that cost $1000, no problem, if you buy it, it's on you. But spending $1 with a "chance" to get that 'illusive' $1000 MTX is not spending, that's gambling. That's preying on people who would absolutely not spend $1000 on the MTX they want, but so, so, so much want it and can't help themselves. So how can you make money off people who won't, and more importantly can't, spend $1000? Make them spend $1 with a "promise" that you can win $1000! " You say this as if it wasn't true. Govern... it's what governments do, it's their whole purpose; you can not kill another person - the government has decided that it's not acceptable. You can not prey on children with advertising - the government has decided that it's not acceptable. You can not sell goods and not provide a guarantee that it works as advertised - the government has decided that it's not acceptable. Seriously; get a fucking clue! " Seriously, wake up man. You live in world of mainstream tv news and expect other people to have same pink glasses. Read your last sentence again please. You never bought anything more expensive than Kinder Surprise if you believe that. I cannot kill another person because of my mentality and morality, not government. Murders are real, probably right now some hero mercenary from your country murdering innocent woman in Afghanistan in the name of "Defence against terrorism" "protecting your democracy". Invading murderers send there by your government... Minority of them murderers by order instead of free will. Goverments are only deciding who's the criminal and punishing the criminals by isolating them in luxury cells funded by your taxes. They not protecting the victims any way and they cannot prevent it for obvious reasons. One day you can be the criminal for spitting on the steet. You have absolutely no clue what democracy should be. Politics should be servants for the public, not rulers. Rulers are dictators or kings. EU? Covering rapes but ruling the straightness of cucumbers and bending of bananas. And that's not even a joke. |

" Have you ever made an RMA on a faulty computer component? What function do you think gave you the money back when the seller refused? That's the government for 'ya'! You can't be this stupid which is why I'm going to categorise your posts in this thread as deliberately not getting the point and instigating trouble on purpose. Have fun. That's the new level of sycophancy and liberal servility there.
Forced warranty is now free gift from government for your happiness. Is it? Not a word about how it influences prices on sale. That in EU you paying much more than in US with optional warranty. That most of the customer warranties are originated from manufacturers. Why can companies charge you 1EUR=1USD. That's government foya! Why 90% of mainstream advertisments are obviously fradulent lies stylized for infants. Ooh so cute, scam wrapped in kitties. Why business contract are allowed to have "small rectifications under bottom thin line". Why corporates are allowed to change the terms of valid contracts any time and then and only then (usually couple of days) you have right to step off that contract without penalty. That's the government for you! Why public votes no longer matters (Lisbon Treaty - Netherlands, Brexit - UK, Parliament Sweden 2018)? There's much much more but it's offtopic so be Happy Dumb Eurosheeple, your Eurogovernment got your brain! |

" Strawman much! Of course it influence price. Are you under the impression that commerce, either way, doesn't? Do you think that the EU fortnight return policy cost the general consumer more than a consumer having to rough it out? You think the difference is on the consumer side? You think you as a consumer is better off because conglomerates can rip someone off, just not you, and get off cheaper? Did you just buy a seafront villa in Switzerland? Edit; Yeah, I edit! So many arguments... so many never getting the point at all.
'Lootboxes' are merely one-armed-bandits in digital form. It's all about impulse control, or lack thereof, and the exploitation of the masses which tend to have little, or NO, impulse control. The player who would never dream of dropping $150 on a game item often would not think twice about purchasing 10 $15 'tickets' ... because in their mind the tickets are simply cheap, despite the end result being the same. The electronic gaming leagues have somewhat curtailed purely P2W aspects of loot boxes, as with most other methods of raw P2W (though not all, and not well, as many top tier league Games are still patently P2W). Either they'll become more restrictive, to the benefit of all, or they'll become less as their voting bodies are bribed further. As for 'loot' boxes... IMO, as long as they're not *thrown* at me in game and I actually have to go looking for them out-of-game I'm 'somewhat' amenable. So long as they don't glut inventory, can't be trashed, and require I purchase 'keys' to unlock them (Cryptic Studios!) I'm 'somewhat' amenable. But PoE still has its own lootboxes - Timeworn Reliquary Keys (and other similar chance based items), Chance Orbs, and the like. Yes, all 'in game and available only for in game currencies' - but how many players/bots farm day in and day out for them? How many youtubers have video after video of chance based play pandering to the poor impulse control of the viewers who feel they *must* have those chances, too, and are willing (if not able) to dump huge chunks of time or cash into their chances? At least, with PoE, the actual loot boxes (MTX) are eventually released (at 10x the cost) to be purchased normally. I would draw the line at selling ten packs of reliquary keys for real world currency. And, this last line, is I believe where most players, and the countries in which those players reside, want to draw the line. Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive. Patch Notes 3.19: Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment. |

" I'll not shoot you. I'm a good uncle. I actually think the economic aspects of EU are good for everybody. At least they were up to 90's. But tell that to poor people of Greece now, for example. EU parasites have pushed them to catastrophy, let them fall then rob them blind and abandon them. Is that what a friends do? Whos next? Spain, Italy, Portugal? I still believe in the common sense of people and in honor of manufacturers much more than in some parasitic sickos from EU. Or EA, by the way. I'm fine with some simple regulation to prevent gambling addiction but nothing else. We don't need more bureucratic control hogs sucking more money from us or honest developers. The big corporations will find another way to giving middle finger to their customers anyway. About my new villa, don't tell anybody, please. |
