What are your 2018 toughts about an Hardmode in the PoE's futur ?

Old discussion, but what are your toughts about a possible Hardmode in PoE, can be an event or even an entire league or why not an additional league option but i personaly think it's clearly time to think about it -

Warning: We are not talking about a dark souls like ( prefer to mention it before somebody get mad on the internet )

What would you add to it ?

( Hardmode Hardcore this is not about death penalty or perma death but altered existing content and rules )

There is almost nothing left to split largest part of userbase play only temp SC and almost no one stay in HC, not like it was a recent fact ( or if there were any chances to make HC great again btw, this model is not only abandoned in PoE but in most of actual games ).

But PoE is basically a single player game anyway
It most likely won't affect me anyway if it splits the playerbase. Still i'm bad a dodging one shots and quite sure a hard mode will only increase the current problem i have with PoE mobs.

Wouldn't mind having unnerfed bosses at all at least! :D
If trash mob toughness gets buffed by like 300% im down for it. I mean really even elites just evaporate off screen. I would like to see something along the lines of D3 where monsters take some time to kill. Obviously not full on Diablo where you fight the same pack for 30 or 45 seconds but 1 shot screen clearing with total trash gear isn’t much fun anymore.

Well basicly many things possible with hardmode approach and ingame progression, but you must keep in mind that it's mostly about increasing existing content difficulty, without breaking what the game is in the mean time.

I don't think the right balance is on the hp increase, and in all cases somebody will find a way to one shoot everything faster than the dev will have time to deny that ( see time it take to balance existing skills in main game and PvP for example ).

However it's still possible to make progression tougher trought flask penalties why not, forcing players to do smarter choice, affix penalties on items why not, boss having harder affix aswell and slightly more HP / speed;

The goal is overhaul to create a really hard experience ( and more spectacular for those that enjoy to watch some PoE ) that doesn't rely on a perma death like it's the case with Hardcore.
It won't be for all players, but it could surely be a middle balance for those that don't go HC due to perma death, but would eventualy challenge themselves like that instead. ( and use the incredibly big amount of knowledges that can be used in this game but end to be useless due to actual power creep ).

Why make an own league for the 0.1%? Already too few players playing HC to split them up even further. For the softcore ppl wanting harder content just play HC instead and do tough map mods xD

I mean .. if they insist.... make a server with 500% increased monster life and 300% increased monster damage with 0 altered loot tables. Have at it all you want. Thing is I don't think the remaining 99.9% of players want their money to go to anything beyond that. If you give special loot then everyone would play that league instead because who wants to play a league that cannot provide all the loot options?

"hard" is a real tricky concept to impliment in POE. The problem is that instant solutions to dangerous situations are so prevelant. At 1% health? You are safe and fine if you can just hit your seething flask, pop a portal, or click a logout macro.

This tends to lead to all threats in POE having to be completely binary... they either kill you instantly and are dangerous... or just deal some amount of damage that is less then your whole health and are at most, mildly threatening if you are not paying attention.

I'd say the first step to implimenting a 'hard' mode in poe, would be to disable instant log-outs, somehow slow down using portals in the middle of combat, and remove or nerf instant recovery flasks. Then you can start actually tuning difficulty around situations in the grey zone that will suddenly exist between instant death and no sweat. I imagine you might actually be finding that you'll need to tone down a lot of the existing threats in light of such changes.
