How is PoE on an Ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor?
Thinking about getting one for my birthday. I understand that not all games handle these well, I'm mostly interested in how THIS game handles such a monitor. Anyone have any experience they can share?

Almost like cheating. The monsters to the sides don't respond to you. You get the initiative every time.

Only issue I had was with my life and mana orbs being sooooo far to the sides I was losing visibility of them and not realising I had to pot or disengage.
It's fricken awesome of for Far Cry 5 though! |

Both previous posts are correct. I have an ultra wide monitor and yes, being able to see left and right of the exile that far is awesome. But a couple minor problems:
1. You can see the mobs farther away left and right but ranged attacks don't work that far out. You can point father away than you can get a ranged skill to work. 2. With the health orb farther toward the edge of your vision you have to be more careful to observe when you're taking damage. It's easy to focus on the center of the screen action and miss health damage like fast moving while bleeding until it's too late. 3. Up and down it's still 1080 so you can still can be blindsided from above or below. I got my wide screen as a shipping mistake and the seller never asked for it back in time so I got to keep it. If I was buying a higher res. larger screen monitor I'd go with a 2560x1600 (QXGA Wide) monitor to get the extra vertical resolution. There are even monitors at 2560 x 1200 resolution so I'd be wanting a higher vertical resolution. Obviously 4K monitors would be the best but I can't afford that kind of resolution. I have dual ASUS MX27AQ monitors 2560 x 1440 and POE runs w/o issue. One monitor for game and the other to look up stuff...cause well ya have to do that to play this game.
Been playing Witcher 3 lately and it looks amazing on ultra in 2K. I've lost control of the controls...

Well now I'm even more psyched about getting an Ultrawide monitor. I hear mixed things about other games working with them, but for the forseeable future only PoE is on my mind.

It is basically cheating however, the UI becomes really painful to navigate now that your screen is so far stretched, you will also noticebly lower what ever fps you have now even with the best rig in the world.
You can try out what it would feel like by doing window mode and stretching your screen horiontally. IGN: Arlianth Check out my LA build: 1782214 Last edited by Nephalim#2731 on Jul 8, 2018, 10:44:18 PM

" If you get a monitor that conforms to the VESA standards like QHD (2560 x 1440) or WQXGA (2560 × 1600) you should have compatibility with most if not all other games too. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."

" Nonsense that a higher resolution is akin to cheating. GGG has tested PoE on 4K screens so it can handle that high of resolution. But it should be obvious that with higher resolution comes much higher gpu loads so you better have a beefy gpu like a Nvidia 1070 or 1080 to keep the frame rate up. Hmm, hadn't thought much about performance issues. I'm still using my GTX 970, which I love. That should handle one of these ultra's, no?
