Strange but viable builds

I'm currently running a character through Kodr's build in HC and it does very well IMO.

Why no hexmaster on the first though? You're literally 1 point away from it. Then you can have both Projectile Weakness and something else, depending on what skill you're using.

And that Necromantic Aegis is going to do exactly nothing for you on the second build, since you're dual wielding.

I'll list some of my more 'exotic' builds as well - since I do not play chaos, I cannot provide evidence of their 'viability' - but they work very well in merciless.

Even though I usually drop my chars in merciless and start anew, the following builds are planned with 81 available skillpoints in mind (lvl 70 + 12 quests).

Acrobatics Wand Ranger

main attack skills: Elemental Hit, Enfeeble, Tempest Shield (just for the additional block chance)

weapons: wand, dex-shield
armour: dex

features:
  • high evasion, high block-chance, dodge, ranged damage;
  • multiple projectiles Elemental Hit;
  • Point Blank Archer;

drawbacks (not considering dps/survivability in chaos):
  • somewhat RNG dependent survivability;
  • (without the unique amulet) barely any defense against spells;

Double Strike Marauder

main attack skills: Double Strike, Flicker Strike, Blood Rage

weapons: 2h sword
armour: dex

features:
  • 5 frenzy charges, 2 swings per attack;
  • Double Strike applies on hit effects twice;
  • high frequency life gain (life on hit/reg/leech);
  • lots of health;

drawbacks (not considering dps/survivability in chaos):
  • single target damage only;
  • Double Strike's damage is inferior to Flicker Strike;

Explosive Arrow Witch

weapons: bow
armour: str/int

features:
  • delayed but potentially massive aoe fire damage;
  • damage drastically increases with each additional monster in close vicinity to each other;
  • no dependency on bow-damage;

drawbacks (not considering dps/survivability in chaos):
  • glass cannon;
  • off-screen elemental reflect aura rares getting caught/wandering in (delayed damage);

Lightning Strike/Tempest Shield Witch

weapons: 1h mace, wallshield
armour: str/int

features:
  • lots of lightning damage;
  • power charges on melee crit;
  • lightning damage per power charge;
  • high blockchance, lightning damage on block;

drawbacks (not considering dps/survivability in chaos):
  • Lightning Strike doesn't scale well with lightning damage passives (conversion + projectile penalty);
  • few spelldamage (Tempest Shield)/melee physical damage passives (Lightning Strike) -> potential scaling issues;

Str/Int Fireball Witch

  • aoe fire damage;
  • longrange/closerange playstyle;
  • lots of mana;

  • str/int armour + eldritch battery provides no energy shield at the expense of damage migitation;
  • only 15% block via dualwielding;

Wand Duelist

features:
  • 4 frenzy charges + 4 power charges;
  • multiple projectiles;
  • manaleech;

drawbacks (not considering dps/survivability in chaos):
  • gear dependency (attacks alternate between wands);

Obviously I tend to value 'playstyle' ('committing' myself to an idea) higher than maximizing dps/survivability in the first place.

I dunno how strange this might be but i built a Fire Charger Templar. I use molten shell, endurance charge, and sprint around slamming mobs and exploding. It worked very well all the way up in till chaos, but at level 58 currently i just get hit to hard to be effective.

Made a dual wielding claw ranger with 0 +hp/evasion passives before i lost in a HC duel. I think everything is viable right now. Next build gonna be a build with no passive skills at all.
I adore unorthodox builds.

Characters I have:
- Discharge Marauder (holy balls OP)
- Explosive arrow Witch (holy balls OP)
- Phys damage wand Ranger (focusing on aspd and frenzy)
- Phys damage wand Marauder (focusing on strength and Iron Grip)
- Viperstrike and Tempest shield tank Ranger (meh at higher levels)
- Shield Charge Duelist (ungodly amounts of movespeed)
- Dual-strike, powercharge, sceptre Witch (no idea, I just wanted to see a witch in heavy armor)
- Frost Wall summoner Templar (fucking with enemy AI is fun)

Not really sure what else I want to make, but each of these was an absolute blast to play.
Hi there,

I'm trying a "bo martial artist" but i don't really know where to go. I just love the idea... Like the monk in Dark Age of Camelot, if you know this MMORPG. Maybe i should wait the sixth class. I think the templar is the best looking character so far, but the duelist introduction video is the way i want to go (i mean the cinematic part of his presentation, not the ingame one where he fights with swords). Any idea ?
