I really don't get the "I can't do any planning at all without patch notes!" folks. Realistically, we have more than enough information to make a good guesstimate of ninety percent of the skill content of the patch already. Nobody's asking for a Blood Oath, just an idea of what folks're doing.

Anyways.

I really wanted to do a (Vaal) Arc build this league, but I can't get the numbers up enough to satisfy at the moment. I'm contemplating Elemental Hit, likely as a wander (Piscator's Vigil E-Hit OP, yo), but am keeping a fairly typical Juggernaut 'melee' start in the pocket. I've never actually done the Standard Jugg Sunder/EQ/Tectonic League Start, and have also frequently struggled with league starts on some of the weirdgirl shit I've tried to bake up since I don't tend to play more than two or three characters a league and want to make even my starter count.

If anyone's got a solid idea and/or pointers for Vaarc, I'd appreciate it. Always loved that skill, the new version looks bitchin', and I haven't run an Elementalist in a while.

I didn't do any math but shouldn't the new (v)arc's damage be absolute bonkers? They literally almost tripled the damage and the clear got way better with the secondary chaining.

I can't peg much over 120k DPS in Path of Bonking with Arc. I'm not a Math of Exile purist or one of those that refuses to play anything without seven-digit numbers, but I've run a few too many sub-100k false starts to really enjoy the thought of trying another one -_-. I'd made myself a sort-of promise that if I couldn't reasonably get around 250k base with a build I wanted to try even with PoBonking's awkwardly minmaxed ideal gearing, I'd look into other options.

Admittedly I'm not bothering with crit because fuck crit for a 5% base crit spell, I don't have nearly enough bloody cash for that especially at league start, and I suppose Path of Bonking isn't accounting for that fat extra-bounce MOAR modifier in the 3.3 version that lets Arc actually try and pretend to do single target damage. Hm. I do really want to play with Arc/Beacon of Ruin, get those delicious guaranteed max-value Shocks on literally everything...

Prolly start with an arcophant and then an inferker.

rf or traps or mines. *or totems

Something completely immune to reflects so it can do most everything (hardcore).
once i get few extra exes i'll see about something more fun & less versatile.

Not sure yet, but I dearly hope vaal fireball will be a semi-decent thing.
slayer something. Probably infernal blow if it's good enough with the changes.

Life is still king and slayer leech with vaalpact is still better than almost all forms of regen without requiring any high end gear. So if you want to play a melee slayer or scion with slayer is still imo the best way to go, especially for a league starter.

of course if you want to go ultra clearspeed meta, deadeye with any of the room clearing ranged skills will still be the best choice.

We'll have to see what happens, but I think ranged room clearing skills will still be king this patch.
sunder slayer to make a buck then going to try incinerate if it works. it was pewpewpew's incinerate build that set the hook in me back when farming piety was a thing. it's time to break out the blue flame again

It's a no brainer lol, there are only 2 viable things you do in every single league all the time, you either make an Uber lab farmer or Burial Chambers farmer. When you have about 10 exalts, you make Immortal Zerphi Build and make your first 100 exalts in 2 days doing boss kill service. By the time the hype is settled and some OP meta builds are out, then you're ready to make your main guy for the league without any struggle. Easy as always...

My starter is Deadeye, Queen of forest is the first requirement. Weather it's a bow, traps or wand oriented skill, doesn't make much difference to me.

Reading this made my soul hurt.

Which is fitting, considering the Vaal theme of the next league.

But yeah, it's like when a lawyer decides to be brutally honest about how he charges for his fees....
