This game's curve is seriously out of whack...

I'd suggest next time instead of coming here and pointing out how the game is out of whack, you take a look in the mirror first.
It would have been much more mature if you had just asked for help politely. Last edited by Archfiend#7746 on Dec 4, 2014, 12:46:24 AM

This game is harder then most online games now, it's a fact and it's also why we love GGG. Things get hard on cruel, and merciless is real nightmare sometimes, but hard doesn't mean not fun. You probably have lots of damage so try luring monsters in small groups and killing them one by one, don't rush. You will be surprised how much damage you can avoid by simply positionning youself well, not rushing into large groups of mobs and dodging some arrows by hand, at least on cruel.
Don't expect your first character to get to act 3 on merciless, you need some time before you get used to the game and passive skill tree. Remember you play to have fun, so if you find playing your character too hard to be fun just make new one. You will still have your orbs so not everything is lost after all. So good luck and have fun! |

built your char bad should just restart.
also u dont need life nodes to get far in this game my lvl 70 marauder uses 2 life nodes to get my life to 1k too look pretty on my screen he does fine in any part of act3 merciless. got to be good looking because im so hard too see.

" the game isnt hard, you have a massive skilltree but... you have to skill only life life life life and no dmg skills at all.... so its not hard , the skill tree is a big illousion that wants the players think at first wow i can do what i want , in the end you need only life and support nodes and thats it. |

I dont see a specific route or overall plan in this build and gear, but also its not too wrong. It seems he focuses on lighting damage with conductivity. The damage should be fine. However, he is lacking survivability.
Survivability has a lot of faces, its not always stackin HP/ES, sometimes it is: -doing enough damage to stun enemies -life leech -status ailment resistance + stun resistance I guess as a shadow he probably does not have enough stun resistance. Unfortunatly PoE does not allow to itemize vs stuns properly in its current state. When I would play a similar shadow with ES/Evasion as defense concept and melee lighting damage as offense, I would see those problems the most severe: -low EHP of ES in early game. ES is a lategame stat, but then it really helps for surviability -getting stunned -no sustain (lighting damage no physical damage) Those points will be the main problem Also people should not cry when they play melee, because though it definitly is hard, they tend to underestimate the scaling of stats. First it looks like you get completly roflstomped, but after you have decent gear you will be A LOT STRONGER, because all stats multiply like retarded. For instance, as I already mentioned: If your damage outscales the enemies, you will also get more survivability because of higher stunchance(while also increasing your EHP so basically you have different factors which multiply your survivability) btw.: I am playing a summoner and the funny thing is, when I first started to play maps I got ONESHOTTED by a alchemists fire bomb in lv 66, but now I am lv 80 with almost 5000 ES + 60-75% fire resist(its not maxed I think) and I can tank firebombs without any problem. Actually I can pretty much ignore them. i can anybody advise to keep going if you like the idea of your character, because even if it looks impossible in the beginning, EVERY SINGLE level and every % improvement in lategame matters a lot. |

" Well - I've rerolled a new char since making this thread, and I'm doing pretty well. But my favorite part is you coming in and talking about being polite. |

Sometimes its ok to respec instead of rerolling..Depends how much you are getting owned. Trial and error = success. Then there is those that can sit there and reroll all day and never ever get it =/..

Solo power curve is indeed out of whack. If you do not have the right gears you will be always behind the curve no matter what you do. It's really hard for new players to solo in Path of Exile on even level mobs. GGG needs to work on the solo part IMO.

" You're right about the curve being out of whack for solo. It a gear base game and if you don't have the right gear you're behind. Playing in groups will help a lot to migrate the problem. Last edited by deadlylag#6397 on Mar 13, 2013, 7:16:19 PM
