And well, it's been known for ages that naming and shaming isn't allowed (and there are good reasons for it, too).

Afaik the correspondence between mods and user are done per PM´s no ?


You mean to tell me someone who posts like this on a daily basis doesn´t collect a couple of strikes on the way but calling out a scammer is the straw that caused the camel´s back to break ?

Did that quite a while ago when I was scammed and lost an item worth 2ex or something.
No big deal, but still I did report it and sent GGG a mail with screenshots and everything.

They replied, that this was within the TOS and therefore they cant do anything.
I wasnt happy with that because I provided screenshots and so on, so we mailed a bit back and forth.
In the end they said something like: We cant tell, whether your screens are real or fake. So we´ll add your report to his "account file" and as long as there are not enough scams reported commited by this acc they wont act.
Dont remember the exact wording.


tl;dr:
Reporting scammers wont do anything.
This is good an bad. Imagine some asshole would fake some screens and report you - bam account banned.
Happy now? Ofc not. Not an easy task and I have no solution at hand how to deal with this issue.
But for sure there is room for improvements

People don't seem to care all that much about correct terminology these days. Seems they are more content with inflating issue's just for the sake of it.

You should NEVER, trust people on the internet. I don't even trust my IRL friends with online game stuff.

I know a guy who basically scammed someone out of hundreds of dollars in Diablo 2 legacy gear (perm .08 valk, perm bug talks armor, 5% frw scs and a lot more priceless stuff). THEY WERE REAL FRIENDS IN REAL LIFE. (Not anymore obviously).

The way I look at it... if you're asking for a service, anything goes. There are no "contracts" or "written" agreements. It's all based on trust, the same way that if you choose to trade between Hardcore League and Non-hardcore league, you are on your own.

GGG is not here to mediate your petty scams.


Don't get me wrong, I hate scammers and I hope they get what they deserve, but this is Wraeclast. It's a dog eats dog world. Trust others at your own risk and ALWAYS assume someone is out there to scam you.

Week ban is still a ban. Although subjective, injustice is still injustice. Arguing semantics is for cheetosboys.

Not surprised honestly, GGG always been more skewed towards helping the scammers and punishing the innocent players instead. Is part of the NZ laws after all. And i would not be surprised if everyone that is siding with I_no end with a warning on the end of the day too...

To be honest, I was wondering why I_NO wasn´t banned or on probation a lot earlier.
She (?) breaks the T&C in basically every single thread she opens. Starting with the CAPITALS IN THE THREAD TOPIC, followed by words that every broadcast would simply *beeeep* out.

Getting a probation for reporting a scammer though seems like pure irony.

Yeah, I have read in recent days that NZ "decency" laws are in place to prevent "online bullying" so there cannot be any "name and shame".

I_NO knows the rules, so you do the crime you do the time; and I am sure she was fully cognizant as to what would happen but did it anyway.

However, this is a microcosm example of how retarded these decency, hate-speech and anti-bullying legislations can be. The abuse under which they can be exploited. But, goodness knows, our fee-fees are far more important to protect.

Of course, in the concept I am fully supportive of anti-bulling ideas - I have a 6 year old of my own so I am not ignorant of what we are trying to do. But I also despair as to the soft, entitled, no-conflict losers we are raising in this world of bubble-wrap and echo chambers.
