Crazy cpu usage after update.
Thank you for the reports and sorry for the trouble, we're working on a fix for this as fast as we can.

" If I'm not mistaken, crypto mining is done via arrays of top of the line video cards. I have noticed the last few leagues, a steady increase in my GPU temps. I brought this up on another thread some time ago about the GPU taking a hit each time a new league starts. For instance, when Breach had started, my GPU (GTX 1060 6GB) would normally run around 36c-38c (sometimes hitting 40c on a rare occasion), even after hours of play time. Now, I'm lucky if it stay below 45c after 10 mins of game time. And now this CPU thing. As I write this, my CPU temps are 26c-28c across all 4 cores. GPU is sitting at 29c. Ambient room temp is 24c. It's really disgusting when people try and convince others that their heat problem is because of a dusty computer fan! That might be the case in some instances, but for sure not mine as I keep mine spotless clean. Mind you, I built this mini ITX (i7-7700) to be cool. It has a 200 mm front fan that blows over the entire inside, it has a positive airflow. My GPU pulls air in from outside and is independent of the case temperature. I also have a all-in-one Silverstone water cooler for the CPU. It runs very cool with virtually everything I throw at it, except PoE. PoE is essentially maxing out my system now. I'm betting the vast majority of people have no clue as what's going on with their computers, so long as they can mindlessly kill mobs with no interruptions. Even though their computer is like a space heater, oh never mind that, I must kill more mobs. |

GGG aren't hijacking your PC's to crypto mine. Why would they risk alienating their players by doing something so stupid. Its obviously a bug and Henry has replied saying they are working on it. It was just they were busy saturday fixing beast league and sunday they were not working.

A temp fix for me seems to be enabling vsync. But then my game is clunky unfortunately.

" "Mining usually takes the form of a competition. Whichever computer solves the equation the fastest is rewarded with the money. With Moreno and other similar cryptocurrencies, a pool of computers can work together and share the reward if they win the competition. This allows individual computers to work on a just small part of the mining task. The larger the pool, the more chance there is of winning the reward." http://theconversation.com/is-your-computer-secretly-mining-bitcoin-alternatives-a-guide-to-cryptojacking-89198 |

" Its all very suspicious. Especially as they didn't think it was a higher priority than shitty nets. |

" And, from the same article. "The problem for the computer’s owner is that this takes up processor power, making other operations take much longer. Pirate Bay users have complained that their processors have been using up to 85% of their capacity compared with less than 10% for normal operations. This can be accompanied by a large battery drain. The Pirate Bay has since said this high processor usage was a bug and the system should normally use between 20% and 30% of processing power." Sounds familiar to what is going on with PoE |

It wasnt a higher priority because it doesnt seem to be affecting everyone, whilst all of reddit was blowing up over the net situation. GGG said they are working on it just chill a bit.

" I would like to chill. But when it comes to these kinds of things, especially with the potential of having 10s of thousands of pooled computers mining cryptos as a back door method for collecting under-the-table money. How would anyone find out? Since most will not even pay attention, and/or because the software is protected under corporate copyright clauses in virtually all countries around the world. Not to mention corporate "trade secret" rights. Who oversees ethical use of software? It's illegal for anyone to reverse engineer GGG's copyright of their software to see, if in fact, they are indeed ethical. So, you're saying, with a straight face, that because they put out a game that makes people feel good, all the while presenting this with a happy smiley face, that they must be above reproach to partake in such activities? As I pointed out in a previous post on this threads, the signs are already occurring in this game. Do you realize just how easy it would be to pull this off? Hell, you don't even need a bank account with crypto, crypto can be stored offline in a software based wallet. No one would be the wiser, not one dam person. |
