Do people want this game as slow as Titan Quest?
" Yep seems like trading is the issue yet again . |

The current pace of the game is only a symptom. And one of several.
What I think we can't really agree upon is whether or not the condition of which it's symptomatic needs to be cured, managed or is mostly benign. I don't want this game as slow as Titan Quest without everything else being adjusted accordingly, and if we do that, maybe that would kill more than it would cure. I genuinely believe we ended up here over a series of decisions and reactions that, in themselves, seemed harmless and necessary in the moment. How many of those could be undone individually without undoing what 'good' they have done? And that's not taking into account that what you're essentially talking here is a step backwards, or at least a more measured step forwards. Neither of these fit GGG's model anymore, their agenda of propelling from league to league, support pack block to support pack block. It's virtually impossible to convince them that enough people would financially support an 'overhaul' block to justify NOT doing another sensational new-and-more metagame-shifting update, and they're probably right. So no. This person does not want PoE as 'slow' as Titan Quest. I would like PoE to take a little time to look in the mirror and maybe hit the gym for a few months, but I don't think it's going to die any faster or slower if it doesn't. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

"Well not really trading The problem comes from further than trading, its the Heavy reliance on items In D2, your character was 70% the skills and 30% the gear In POE id say its the other way around if not more ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it

" Awesome response. I tend to agree with you that it was a series of seemingly harmless decisions that has compiled up to this point and now seems borderline ridiculous. A lot of good did come with the bad so I also agree with you there. I think the last patch i really really appreciated was forsaken masters or maybe vaal. Since that introduced master crafting and new types of "ultimate skills" that really helped progression into end game but without much destruction of the core fundamentals of POE. I think one of the bittersweet things put into the game was ascendancy. As cool as it is to develop an identity or subclass, it did give the first initial signs of power creep... but then again how could they create those ascendancies without power creep. If they were "side grades" then everyone would ignore them... The risk/reward balance in this game is so delicate. I still think part of the reason for elder/shaper weapons/armor in the game is to give something back to standard crafters. To recreate the new T1s and god tier stuff... who knows. Nice response though thanks for that. |

I think it's more about enemies not having any presence for a lot of builds.
Apart from porcupine goliaths shooting out spines when they die and maybe a necromancer resurrecting enemies you'd already killed, do players really notice the regular enemies in maps any more? I don't think GGG can just add more health, since that just makes fights take longer and hurts the less optimal builds, plus you also end up having to use abbreviated damage indicators like in D3. 142M "Let those with infinite free time pave the road with their corpses." - reboticon

The ideal speed is what is currently achieveable now.
People talk like everyone and their dog is doing T16 maps in 60 seconds. These players are the minority. The vast majority of players are doing just fine doing 2-6 minute maps. What remains is the small vocal minority that seems to think clear speed has been killing the game for the past 2-3 years.
