...about PoE, scamming, its people and culture
Earlier looked into buying a jewel to + some damage.....[Removed by Support]
The guy linked me another jewel with a similar prefix to the one i asked for, and after already blood rushing as he was to first to answer in 6 other sellers, i took the prefix for granted and didn't check and bought in haste so others couldn't get to it before me. After politely explaining what happened and requesting a correction, he said he sold it. He had the jewel on sale for more than week and still has it on sale 7h after I tried buying it :) Now I wonder how many people got tricked with the same "sale"... I agree it was my mistake, would be foolish not to. The issue is he took advantage of the loose system and the character he showed even after he recognised his mistake. I am now talking to other supporters, Did we pay for a RPG game? Or for a game that is mostly based on trading and the most important skill is supposed to be scam avoidance? I see a lot of people slamming others that report scams. You represent that human side called asshole. (There are other games where GM's handle such situations and players get suspensions then bans if they don't take the last chance to correct the issue, and this is as old as Lineage 2, if not older) Last edited by Patrick_GGG#0000 on Jan 3, 2018, 5:21:18 AM Last bumped on Jan 25, 2018, 3:38:12 PM

" I believe in people just being good people. You will meet that 1 moment where someone is just an asshole but there is nothing much that can be done about it honestly. In the end you should simply check what jewel is being sold to you. I never understood how 1 bad experience can create such anger about a system that works fine 99% of the time. |

" I'd probably bank on it not being the 1 bad experience necessarily, but the straw that broke the camel's back. Honestly, wouldn't really say the system works 99% of the time. Hell, I spent goddamn half an hour trying to buy a pair of Wanderlust with at least iLv 25 (not even with 4s or full linked). People just sitting in hideout, not showing up as afk and fully ignoring me. Apparently my chaos isn't good enough for them I guess. If people already in the hideout can't bother to grab an order for 1-2c, then they shouldn't bother listing in the first place. This is definitely not the first, nor will it be the last time something like this goes on with trade. I've learned to accept it, but it still doesn't make it feel 99% when it happens with nearly every item I try to buy. Combat is simple. Keep your blood in. Take theirs out. - Has a chance to look at the item and accept it
- Chooses to rush and gets "scammed" You played yourself homie. |

" You just made my point, this is accepted as a scam avoidance game, prolly by some who profit from these ways, who haven't got scammed yet or enough to get upset. The bigger problem is the guy doing this is still online and the jewel i asked for is still for sale even though he said he sold it to excuse the fact that he ignored my initial request. " The answer is bolded. Have you not been paying attention the last 3 years? Read all the "manifesto's" and posts about "player interaction" and "drops designed with trade in mind"? Have you not seen the price fixing accusations, the item-flippers making mirrors of currency, the race to farm Uber-lab as early as possible every league to exploit the fresh market for massive gain? Get used to the system, it isn't going away. Or play SSF and recognize that you are hamstrung by RNG. I do the latter, most do the former. Last edited by Slaanesh69#4492 on Jan 2, 2018, 11:17:13 AM

That isn't a scam, lol
You went to a guy to buy something and he presented something else and YOU hit accept. He didn't force anything upon you. Pay better attention. |

" I understand you're upset, but this is 100% on you. Yes, people will scam if you let them - it's human nature, unfortunately. If you still want the gem and the guy won't give it to you, have a friend buy it (and actually LOOK at the gem before accepting the trade), and then you can just buy it from your buddy. |

I dunno man. I've given people refunds before but there's nothing that says you have to. There's actually nothing that says businesses even have to if you look at the laws in most countries. I was actually surprised by this. But obviously most do because the loss of business by word of mouth would sink them.
Anyway, you had a chance to thoroughly check your item before buying. I get it. We all have those moments when you rush. And the guy is a dick for not reversing the trade but you didn't get scammed, you got played. You see this from time to time in 820. Some guy legitimately crashes or DCs and the other guy is freaking out spamming chat that he's a scammer and ran off with whatever. You need to slow down and chill. There are lots of scammers yeah, but the VAST majority are straight. Just look next time and stop playing the big bad victim. It's a video game man... breath Deliver pain exquisite
