It's probably different for everyone, but I find that when I start reading books by a new author, it takes me awhile to get the feel of the writing. Subsequent books by the same writer seem to go a lot quicker. Try getting 3-4 chapters in and see if it doesn't start to take off.

If you already watched The Disaster Artist, then you know is a must watch movie. And if you don't, then WATCH IT and then watch TDA for extra background :P

Spoiler
Finished Rise of Endymion a few weeks ago. Damn fine read. Very satisfying conclusion to the whole four book sprawl. What a great world Simmons made. Just...great.

About halfway through Claw of the Conciliator by Wolfe now. I finally got through Shadow of the Torturer and yeah, that book is about ten times too clever for its own good.

Snow Crash is ABSOLUTELY something you must read.
Warhammer 40k Inquisitor: where shotgunning is not only not nerfed, it is deeply encouraged.

Dogma > Souls, but they're masterworks all. You can't go wrong.

I was right about PoE2 needing to be a separate, new game. It was really obvious.

12 Angry Men

These are ones I can recommend to absolutely anyone. I especially love 12 Angry Men - this movie happens in literally one room and there is close to no action, yet it it kept in my seat, watching everything that was happening with absolute focus.

Good to see Iron Sky on the list - imo VERY underrated movie. CGI may not be top notch and actors are not well know, but overall this movie not only is a great fun (the comedy is absolute gold), but it also shifts things around, the perception of evil and so on. Strong recommendation if you can overlook the sometimes overly-comedic tone.

Idiocracy: do I need say more. :P Again - a comedy with a serious undertone. Fun to watch but also makes you think.

Happy to second 12 Angry Men.

I have seen 4 versions of it: the original movie, a remake done a few years ago, the play, and a Russian film which was basically a Russian modernization but same plot etc.

Highly underrated movie, definitely worth a watch! :)

So cheesy it may cause constipation.

I will check it out. Sadly, a man I was good friend's with and used to work with was really great at finding obscure, indie movies. But he unexpectedly died. So not only am I missing my friend but also he was the main source for obscure movie recommendations. :(

He was really too young to go. :(

My condolences, it seems the good ones are always taken too soon. :(
