Am I the only one who likes the double life bosses?

No. It's a cheap way to induce artificial difficulty without adding anything relevant to the fight.

On the other hand, it does 2 things:

1. Prevents glass-cannon builds to trivialize the bosses too easily.

2. Makes it possible to be doable for low-end builds without having to overbuff bosses to compensate for glass-cannon builds.

So, at the end of the day I guess one can't argue that it has its purpose, even though it's not very likeable at first thought.

Pretty much this, however I disagree with the your statement that it makes it harder for glass cannon builds. Here is why:

- A proper glass cannon build (well at least by my standards) melts an old map boss in about 2-3 seconds. With the double hp buff, he will now melt the boss in 3-6 seconds. That is a whooping 2-3 seconds difference for the build, and the glass cannon still probably won't even engage with boss mechanics (and what boss mechanics are we even talking about? most of the map bosses are buffed unique mobs).

- At the same time, a more average build, who would take around 15-20 seconds to melt and old boss, will now take 30-40 seconds. That is a much bigger difference than for the glass cannon builds. So the glass cannons are not really that affected, but the average guys are... AGAIN. What you should consider as well is that, unless we are talking about some rare expensive uber tanks (which STILL can die to damage spikes), defensive mechanics in this game are not very reliable. Generally, unless you have very powerful sustain (VP, slayer leech), you will lose a war of attrition versus almost any boss. People tend to build millions of dps build because they are the most effective for these reasons - the shorter the fight, the better, while stacking defensive mechanics is much less effective. So what the new change really does is it punishes the middle guys even more, while barely putting a dent in the real troublemakers' builds.
Pisses me off watching some of these established streamers give POE their first try and watching them on bad build kill original content bosses who dont have set phases, before they do anything interesting.

Watched more than one first runs though Vaal boss fight. Couldnt wait until the streamer got one shot by a slam...but he dropped the boss the second he came up the first time after spreading ice and mobs.

No slam, no lazers, no falling debris...Vaal done and over in seconds and off to sarn.

Man i remember putting on chaos resist, and fearing the ice patches for the lazer phase.

Same with Kole. Man i use to fear that guy charging at me in lunaris and one shotting me....or coming close to it... Seeing nooby streamers with dps builds and bad gear drop him like he was a rare hurts.

All that suffering he caused me and noobs can just casually drop him without much notice.

Yeah i wish some of these bosses didnt die so fast, however, i like that its not like it use to be with the random wtf difficulty spikes while progressing.

I wish some old content bosses were as rough as i remember.

Lul...if they were Kitava level with actual mechanics,id like the hp buff as well. Sadly, its cheap auto attacks, and the buff is worthless. Doesn't matter,at this point i still kill them instantly, but guess what,my gear came from bosses with ACTUAL mechanics.

See the problem? You don't try to make the meaningless bosses hard, its pointless...no tactics,no drops, just health and cheap fight mechanics. Maybe in the next expansion when/IF they rework maps, and put the act bosses here,i will change my mind.

For example ill give one of the bosses in Overgrown ruin. He uses spectral throw which with a slightly bad roll almost oneshots my 7.5k Slayer, yet has 41231353 HP,I can do Uber Atziri with like 1 death overall,Shaper i do deathless,Guardians are a joke. But noo, some fuck that uses auto attack is 5 times worse than all of these combined, and for some reason has similar health, and i don't remember him dropping Starforges and Disfavours.

TL:DR,CHEAP Bosses DO NOT deserve to have high health,Kaom,Daresso,Malachai,Cursed King however deserve to have, everything else is a glorified MOB with artificially boosted health and damage.

I think one of the main issues is that GGG decided to hand out a bunch of DpS gems in act1 and 2.
(in the past, you had to fight normal Kole without melee phys, faster attacks etc, unless you traded for these gems).
We get too much DpS too early these days.

But at least you'll meet them again in maps.

Act bosses,especially 1,2,3 can use a buff,i agree.
I like that i can progress in a logical manner now though.

I hated the insane difficulty spikes the game use to have.

I dont think DPS is the issue because that would make early zones slow and painful...but yeah some bosses and uniques might need some HP buffs or maybe put a flask on them so they can live long enough to actually provide a fight.

Hopefully we move away from increased boss life and toward multi-phase bosses. Thankfully we see plenty of this in 3.0, so we just have to hope they revamp the atlas to include these bosses.
Ye it's better, actually feels like you're fighting a boss now.
I was hoping that higher tier bosses/guardians would drop more loot though, it's pretty much only trash + a fragment.
When I had low dps I was watching Star Trek Voyager.

Running around boss for 3 mins is boring, but needed for Atlas. After map completion I was skipping bosses till my dps was high enough to fight them in seconds.

Imo you like it now, but will dislike with time when you realize, that there is no gain from it and all what you do is dodge - figt and repeat.

Till that time enjoy .).
I've always said that a boss should feel like a boss, without the possibilities of being DPS'd down in a fraction of a second. Bus as it stands now, they're just a heavy sack of potatoes, taking much longer to kill, and still only drops... Potatoes.

Of course, when you reach high level, you have the damage to DPS them down fast. But while you're leveling and unlocking the Atlas, the link between the time it takes, the danger and the reward just doesn't rhyme.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
