Very unhappy with passive point transfer in standard

Let's be honest. GGG, increasingly so than ever before wants us to stop playing standard and play their boring harbringer league and other leagues to follow.
Harbinger is ultra boring, non-rewarding, I'd say high risk low reward, I just started to get to know story on fresh character. They nerfed base es items, they nerfed flasks with no full legacy versions, they gutted es. As a SRS lover apparently I should now start Baron SRS build but hell no, never. I got lucky in league, found exalt and abyssus, and have about 2ex now while playing as lame as possible ssf, but I don't want to even play it. This slap of the face shows how much ggg respect their players as people, they increasingly care about "playbase" and "new players". This is not for me, I won't ever spend money on this game again unless they do something with overnerfs. They nerfed meta builds - yes, but they also nerfed hundred of non-meta builds with them. Instead of gutting spectral throw or other stupid things, VP included they just nerfed ES. This is not a game for me. Was fun, but now it's hideout warrior for me. And buying new items when they come to std just for collector's OCD sake. Why bother finding a Mirror of Kalandra if it can be [Removed by Support]

" What else to expect (or even demand)? That's what they always did/aimed... and it nothing about 'taking away' anything - its plain and simple: they change without altering the strength of the chars. The total distributable points stay constant, the maximum possible level stays constant; and the whole playthrough experience stays as close as possible. invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

" Given the fact that especially act 5 irreversible alters while progressing through, this is only possible if you start fresh (at least from there). Given all the (minor) changes that occur before the ascent (to adapt on the new stuff), you basically HAVE to start completely new if you're really interested in lore and the whole story... " Given that the 'story' ends at 68, and that you are more like 90 than 100 yet: thats around 110 points for your build, ~40 above the final... (where you should have all missing points back) Given next that with the changes to skills and the tree, you have to rebuild/adapt your builds anyway: if you cant temporarily pass that (7?) points from the sidequests to make it work against massively underleveled content, then you're BAD. A XXXkdps glass cannon should just even more blast through this conditions. " Its not for the 'sake of it', it's just a fight against all that mindless demandings and weak complaints. And 'yes', I once again (even as I doubted first) find enough reason to focus on the challenge league first (also to give them a chance to sort issues out), before I somewhen start to rebuild standard toons, one by one (of THIRTEEN! different with already earned map access, from 69 to 93). Its really not that I have no tasks there... invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

" Ar you aware that you are almost the only one in this forum threat that thinks that giving Std players all main quests done but not side quests, is not right? It is so difficult to understand that the default option that we got is maybe not the best one? Not only because of the significant amount of forum threads and complains, but because this option was not good for people willing to map without getting spoilers and for people that wanted to see the full story (I think it is a legit choice if we want to use our high characters). The argument that the only way to experience new content is by making new char, totally dissapears when Std chars are forced to do side quests. If main quests cannot be done, then so be it for side quets. Let us at least do maps without spoilers. Thanks! |

" A few minor changes to the old content is very minor in comparison to 6 new acts of content. That's like saying to experience the full extent of Zana's voice dialogue changes in Atlas of Worlds, I need to make a new account so I have fresh masters. " And whats wrong with blasting through content? They let us do it before when they released act 4 and the only reason people complained was that some people didn't like act 4. " You think GGG deliberately screwed up the play experience of standard players to fight against mindless demandings and weak complaints? Put on the white knight, the shows over, Mr_Cee has the real story. Oh, in case I haven't said it yet, shove off. |

OK let's be straight. They could have done it differently. But since they mentioned that harbringer league will be tame/boring not to overshadow new content, they forced us to play it differently. Because honestly, if I have to level from 1 to 68, I'd rather do it in a league just to waste 2 more hours but see league exclusive content.
And I was already planning to not play it at all. Too bad I feel kinda invested in new league. Well - I guess I will just delete my 70 char to dissolved that feeling. Last but not least, 3 days in and no new patch for numerous problems. On a sidenote - I'm glad I didnt start this on reddit but here. Fanboys would downvote me in an instant, and "fifa 2017 streamer starts PoE" threads would take its place quickly. I really think that if people want to experience the new content, they can create a new character.
My (opinion and) guess is that people on standard really like to experiment and test, specially on endgame content. Do some content over and over again just to test complete characters isn't fun. |

" Standard characters fall into a few categories, and experiment and test isn't really one of them (to my knowledge, subject to refute). That is what league players do in standard. Standard is largely inhabited by people that: A. Don't have a lot of time. Starting over in the league to build up new characters is a significant investment of time. If you only play an hour or two here or there, it takes a long time to get established in a league and to some it just isn't worth the effort. B. Don't like the league mechanics. These people could be league players, or sometimes are, but got bored with the league. Right now these people are probably playing in Harbinger, but will likely start showing back up in standard in a couple weeks. C. Are working toward a goal. While perfect gear and setups aren't necessary to complete end game content, sometimes people like to play to it. And you can't really do that in a short term league. D. Hate starting over -- this is the one I'm probably most fit for. I like all my gear in one place, play primarily one character (that is currently level 98) and don't really care to remake almost ever, let alone without my loot. E. Just aren't social. Now you could say that people that fit this category should be in SSF and not standard, BUT a lot of these people were players before SSF was a thing. People can be part of multiple of these categories, but experiment and testing, is usually done by people that want to see how something works before they do it in hardcore, the current league, or the hardcore variant of the current league because they have a lot of wealth in standard, but not in the league. |

Here's a simple solution appropriate for Standard characters that completed Merciless Act 4:
