Very unhappy with passive point transfer in standard

Ok here is what I did. I started a char on harbinger league. So far it's 12hours and I'm in the middle of act 8. NOW the story makes sense to me, and I will probably reset about 2 more of my chars in std because I dont care about spoiling story that much BUT I must admit some of these zones are not that easy when you have no waypoints and lose exactly hmm 23? passive points - so you will probably be required to put some of your points into useless str and dex and int you would not otherwise get from particular nodes.

TL;DR - if you want to know the story you must spend up to 18 hours in new league or use twink char in standard to cut the time.
If you want to get points back on your 12+ chars - GGG laughs at you

Bleah, it took me around 4 hours to find and grab the missing skillpoints on my main character, and I can just thank God that I only have 3 more to go (although it will take me considerably less at the next rushes, as I took my time on the first run).

Standard got the usual short stick with a subpar solution.

Meh...

You said it, I was thinking it.

If your build is currently broken to the point where it is unplayable with the amount of points you have, your build is bad and you should feel bad. If you don't have the respec points to temporarily hit nodes you need in order to re-equip your gear, that's your own fault. Orbs of Regret aside, they give you quite a few just from quests. If you're too lazy to go back and get the ~15ish points you're missing, come to the forum and make a post whining about it. Oh wait, most of you already did that.

In the time it has taken some of you to make these posts, especially multiple posts, you could've farmed up your skill points and be back where you started. You can't tell me that was more enjoyable than playing the game. How hard is it to just not pay attention to the quests? Grab the quest, complete the objective, and move on. If you want to enjoy the actual storyline, roll a new character. Not like it takes months to get through.

As to WHY they reset the skill trees, you very obviously didn't read the patch notes. It's for a couple of reasons. One, the fact they moved all those points to other quests. Two, they made some changes to the skilltree itself. And not everybody got reset. I have 4 characters that are level 50 and below, not a single one of them got force-reset.

4 HOURS? Are you serious? It took me about an hour and a half the first time, and then once I knew what I was doing, I did it under an hour on the other 2 characters that needed to do it.

I did took my time and I wanted to actually make sense of the zones, enemies etc.

It didn't help that I had to recover around 20 skill points, and I lost the interesting bandit bonuses (was specced into Oak, Kraityn, Kraityn).

Not everyone rushes the content, especially if they want to be prepared for leveling alts. It helps if you watch the fights versus various bosses with "GOD mode ON". It also makes you aware of the gear/damage checks.

And in those 4 hours I got immensely drawn by the story, even through the current spoiler system so I can't wait to level chars either in Standard or Harbinger league - as I hadn't enough time to experience the beta after my own liking.

Oh, next time it'll take me a lot less to complete the additional quests on those other 3 chars, I'll spend up to 2 hours for all 3...

It was the first sight of Oriath that got me wanting to explore more, and I don't regret it one bit...

Doing the side quests is pretty quick. Just TP to each town from A4 to A10 and speak to everyone. Then press "U" and highlight the quests to see where to go.

Took me about 30 minutes to get all the points.

If I had a stat heavy build that couldn't equip all items because of lack of points, then I would have just said "fuck it" and not bothered until there was some fix to give us all the points. Not sure how many players were affected in such a way.

Two of the 3 characters that I have to rush are in that situation, and that was one of the reasons why I actually took my time on the first run, to get a better understanding if I have to pursue the option of keeping the same builds (probably, as they were quite fun) or do I scrap them and start blank.

But the first run through the quests got me so impressed, that I started to "sight see" a lot more then necessary.

And even though I bought Wolcen, I might drop GGG some support, but first there is the separation of Innervate and Onslaught that annoys me, next to the abyssmal performance of Lightning Strike at >10 APS, even with Dynamic Resolution...

Decissions, decissions...

THe passive point loss was annoying, but least I know where most of the points. However, what really annoys me is the bandits. Like most other melee life based characters, I had Oak, Kraityn, Kraityn and I can't seem to change to Alira.

What's worse is if you accidentally allocate those 2 points from bandits, you can't get them back without wasting currency.
Finally found some time for some check what's going on for my standard char(s)... and to me (even with NO single rebuild char) its totally clear now:

-the mainline quests are solved (for the desired progression); all related rewards can be taken from the NPC's - working as intended & expected.

-the side quests have to be done to gain the rewards, as announced/intended. This will need some time for the act 5 ones (from my pre-knowledge from beta), but these are maybe not really worthy/needed. The most important, the minor god fights, should be doable quickly (maybe indeed with some more time for the first one, if you have no beta experience)
disclaimer here: nobody has pre-knowledge about acts 9 and 10.

-the bandit reward(s) and the passives distribution have changed: no reason to complain, deal with it.

-but: the announced option to change the 'preselected' bandit reward (from eramir's passives to anything else) is NOT available. And this is simply a BUG and also nothing to complain about, outside of a bug report. If you miss the information about the reward, then it MAY force you to "invest" 2 respec once we're able to reset the choice. I wont call this a 'huge' waste, even as its unneccessary (but mainly your own fault).

I will lay out thinking for people defending GGG stance
There are some players that want to check lore and dialogues without spoilers
There are also players who, most importantly, want to see what changed in their builds and if they're viable
There are also glass cannon builds who really needed every point they had, and fights with new bosses could be tricky if you just rush them

But whatever, you guys just disagree for the sake of it or don't play standard
Why bother finding a Mirror of Kalandra if it can be [Removed by Support]
Killing the Elder or Shaper while following someone's build is like finding a street using google maps - such an achievement!
so aside from this entire thing being totally assinine.....

are any passive points gained in the introduction of these new acts 5-10 or do we just get back what they took away? i mostly asked as game is unplayable mostly right now and if they didnt even bother to give a reason to play through these new acts (reason for high lvl players would be some passive points) then i am not sure there is any reason to even play.
Shitysushi - Arrow shooting build.
Sendeliriante - hollow palmer

There are no new passive points available, they were merely redistributed from cruel/merciless into act 5-10.
