Righteous Fire in 3.0
The reduction of RF damage from 50% to 40% means a reduction with of 20% of the final damage (one fifth).
BUT is done because Burning damage is a more gem now and goes as conc efect / ele focus etc 55% more damage. I will speak about my build now. In my build (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1892353/page/1) the actual increase burning damage 70% means aproximatively 10% of the final damage. Instead of that I get 55% more now. So from the damage I had *0.9*0.8*1.55 = 1.116. So in the end we have more damage. The 2.6 RF damage is about 636k. The 3.0 RF damage now is about 715k. Before nerfing RF it was 922k. So RF got downgraded, but is still better than in 2.6. Add to this 140k to 280k DPS of SR (depending on links) and you got the picture. Feel free to go ES, LL, guardian, what ever. I love my RF life chieftain not because is fast, but because is tanky. I don't have to pay attention to the game, I can watch movies and play, I don't care about lag as enemies burn no matter if I can move or not etc. I do routinely maps with vulnerability, - max resist, 60% less HP regeneration. I do also maps with 2 of these mods if they are corrupted and can't reroll them or if I love the numbers. End o story. |

" So do you still go for max HP as Guardian? I played Pftiutas build in the beta but could only reach 9k hp so far (which is still okay without a Kaoms and good jewels being priced at 50chaos a piece) and therefore search for an alternative build to it that is also league starter friendly |

" Trickster provides a real huge boost to regen during clearing / bosses with adds. 40% increased damage as well. You can spec into zero cost movement skills..which means you can comfortably reserve all of your mana ( or "reserve" it all for MoM ) and still have excellent clear speeds. It also provides some interesting interactions with 3.0 RF ..if you decided to go with MoM. Specing into Weave can get you another 33% max mana and an abundance of mana regen / recovery. One of the more interesting parts is the 8% damage reduction for spending mana. Id really like see it tested in the beta to see if the MoM effect counts as "spending" mana. If so ...thats pretty much a 100% uptime of damage reduction ( which you can still achieve if you skip out on taking Aeither ) ...which could essentially equate to health regen as well for sustaining early on. You kinda throw away a lot of wasted stats like attack speed ( though it will help for things like shield charge ), but you can get a good deal of flat and % evasion too, which can really help make you more tanky. You also get flat ES at the end of Shade Form, so with the other % ES nodes on the way there + maybe some straggler options in some of the health/ES combo nodes between shadow / witch areas you could ramp up your RF damage a bit more that way. And on the topic of MoM ..Hierophant gives you an extra 10% MoM effect ( though unlikely to affect RF in 3.0 unless they changed its hit classification too ), as well as a ton of max mana and regen. And if you're sticking to an early budget build ...it gives you the option of inc aoe / fire pen / leech ( of some sort you can make work ) for a 4 socket build. You can also start off as RF Totems in a real strong position. |

" Hp if budget, CI/LL if not. LL would be THE BEST option but it requires damn Shavs... and due to es nerf u get less ES = less dmg. Still more than HP and less regen required |

I've got a decent HP RF Cheiftain that I've been having a blast with. I thought about making him playable now again, once patch 3.0 has hit us.
Do you think it's best to spec the MoM and that beam-spell, or should I just try to rebuild my HP regen-build? Could easily run tier 12 before the big patch as it was before (didn't have the time to climb higher as it was). The main goal is to come as far as possible in the atlas. Thanks! | |
I am doing berserker RF the pohx guide and i am having a blast aswell and its super strong becuz of ridicilous sustain and it has more dmg aswell becuz aspect of carnage

Im also doing Phox'like rf berserker.
only 79 atm but having a blast. regen tank playstyle, many bosses can be facetanked. i still havent got all regen nodes and good marble amulet but even without you can almost run through lab without looking at traps. i recommend leveling with rf its fun as hell. i went fully sustainable rf at lvl 22-24 i think with dual kikazaru rings, shaper seed ammy springleaf and some decent gear with health and life regen/s. at first you have to use some pots but every lvl gets better and easier. i recommend putting purity of fire in some + skills item like mace or something for faster +1% max fire. after that you just breeze through content like a mad man with shield charge very enjoyable but kinda lazy playstyle. im doing rf like every league and in 3.0 its really great. i would like to try MoM version later in the league but im waiting for other ppl to test it out first:P Bingo! Bongo! I don't want to leave The Kongo!

my life pool dropped from 11k to 9500 after 3.0. I'm only at 90 but will try to finish off getting several life nodes.

So if I understand this correctly, +% Increased Fire Damage nodes/jewels do absolutely nothing for RF? Or is it just specifically SPELL damage that has no effect? Because when I remove them in PoB, I lose DPS. I have an Inq Templar that I'm doing RF with, I love the build, but I'm trying to get more DPS out of it. It's just not as fast as I expect it to be.

" %increased fire damage works %increased spell damage does not work because the degen is not considered a spell 'added' damage of any kind also does not work because its a degen No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
