There's a good reason why we don't have great games anymore, and it's related. People think they want something, but when they get it they find that there's no real fun in having it. Games that work on the premise that they should give players what they want tend to be quite short lived. Games can last for years on a trickle of what players want.
GGG has gone overboard giving in to player demand. For the last two years power has gotten out of control. It has to stop... and can either be stopped by design, or simply stopped because people lose interest in the game. The wants of the average player have ruined many games in the past. They shouldn't be ignored, but at the same time they shouldn't be spoiled either. We've been spoiled. You're seeing the affects of it. |

The Two ARPGs I play most have had ridiculous power creep and monster nerfs to cater to mass audience. It sux.
I can barley play this game anymore without my eyes closing and literally falling asleep. Mobs don't really try and kill you and even if they did you one shot them. It's so stupid. D3 orginal inferno was my favorite game of all time. Most ppl got raped and couldnt even make it past act 1. Elite (rares here) fights were like 5 min long and would wreck your shit for any mistake. They enraged if DPS too low. They one shot u then. Fantastic edge of seat gaming at all times. OFC not everyone ws in summer break like me and could play 16 hrs a day and beat game. So they nerfed it to oblivion and made it a one shot shit fest like here now. Masses suck. You have noobs right now every day in feedback asking to lower monster damage more even when its already been nerfed like crazy esp from OG invasion days (and us buff like crazy). Masses suck. Its mostly because people in forums are type of people who want to see dramas over nerfs.
Also the war between white knights of GGG and people with opinions that disagrees with them. They the white knights usually pay shit ton of money on supporter packs, but are generally low level softcore players or type of player who dont get much done in game. GGG nerfs things based on popular opinions. So at end we get nerfs due to people talking things loudly and being noisy in places like here and reddit without much understanding of how things are in game. " What does power creep and monster nerfs have to do with anything? Most of those nerfs just made melee more viable. The game has never really been a threat for ranged builds. Way too many monsters are designed to only be a threat for melee. A life build on the right side of the tree with an actual melee skill like flicker strike will cause you to come very close to death quite frequently. The ES nerf should make ES builds experience this more often. Edit : Diablo 3 nerfed original inferno because there was no reason to be melee. I started out as a demon hunter and a friend played a monk and it was just funny how much harder the game was for him in inferno. Shit balancing was one of the reasons the game failed. " Melee is less viable than ever and will continue to be so long as ranged and aoe do same DPS. Ugly truth is to fix melee requires it do like 10x more DPS than them and they cant one shot anything. But masses would hate it. So melee can never be fixed. Git R Dun!

" They tried to fix melee by giving them fortify, however the problem with fortify was that, it takes one gem slot, if you are not a champion and give u play style where u have to keep using movement skills every 4 seconds. it wont save you from 1 shots, and you can never be a tank in this game without vaal pact and big pool of life to not get one shotted. I mean it would make sense for melee to be able to tank things easier because they already clear stuff slow and have shitty aoe compared to ranged or spells. So I just dont get why we the melee have to feel like playing puny ranged character with less aoe in PoE. Another thing I dont like about PoE is that two handers are tankier than 1 hander, the sword and board style is squishy due to existing armor such as kaoms. Melee survives just fine. You can get 100% all res and 95% phys res making you invulnerable just about. You can also get 75% block spell block. But it's totally noncompetitive for clear speed. Even worse that melee is to begin with due to gear and passives investing almost 100% in Defense
