This is the Bringer of Rain variant based on "The Warchief".

Welcome! Welcome!

This is the fully updated thread for RainChief 3.0

I am not playing this guy this league but have setup my old character in standard with my GG gear for reference, so feel free to import "Corosoo - Standard" to check it out.

Ever since Path of Building came of the scene, there's little point in making a huge post with a bunch of details.

If you want to see:

Download Path of Building (link below), import my build in one window and import your character in another and compare side by side.

Ok, so here are the details...

Why am I making you do this? It seems like a lot of work...

Yes, I understand it's a slight annoyance, but in the long run it will pay off to have all the discussion accessible in a modern tool that's revolutionizing the way people work together.

Basically it will allow anyone to go there, ask a question to me directly, talk to others playing the build, share files, PoB build exports, and it will all be searchable!

Combine at minimum these:
Facebreakers + Lycosidae + Meginord’s + Warden’s Brand + Deidbell + Tabula + Wanderlust

Keep in mind that Lycosidae gives you "Resolute Technique", so don't get RT until you are ready to switch out of the shield.

Skills & Tree
Spoiler

Shield charge + ancestral warchief + faster atk + melee phys. damage + added fire + iaoe/conc

For the tree get all STR and DMG nodes. Forget resists and Life.
With this setup shield charge should one-shot most everything (except bosses) all the way to Merc Dry Lake.

When to switch to Blade Flurry I leave up to you. There's already tons of info out there, so do some research. I don't like cuddling and hand-holding ppl so much.

Useful list of items to consider for leveling:

Face breakers
Deidbell/Goldrim
Lycosidae
Meginord’s
Wanderlust
Tabula
Warden’s Brand
Blackheart
Le Heup of All
Gifts From Above
Kaom’s Sign
Praxis Paua Ring
Mutewind Seal
Karui Ward
Daresso’s Salute
Extractor Mentis
Pyre
Carnage Heart

First, of course, the pretty numbers:

-::- Stats -::-
Spoiler
1255o9w
Disclaimer: Above numbers are on "shocked" enemies". Unfortunately, because BoR limits our options in not being able to wear a chest piece, this dmg potential is only reached under ideal conditions using Lightning Trap. One of the motivations for the Starchief variant was to increase that shocking potential allowing you to reach the +4mil DPS more often. Unfortunately, dropping Voidheart for Valako's and Meginord for Doryani's is not an option with BoR. But really, there comes a point where too much DPS (blasphemy!) means sacrificing survivability. I believe I have achieved a good balance in what I present below.

Again, we begin with the star. In this case, the very OP and budget friendly Bringer of Rain:

Basically gives you a 7L.
Also, as you can see, it's the legacy version, but it's NOT REQUIRED. I just spent so much time working on this toon and farming lab with him that I got enough $$ to get mostly all GG legacy gear. DO NOT let that scare you! Regular versions will work just as well.

Next is our shield:

Pretty self-evident. Totem dmg, life, armour and the 3 totems are sick on Izaro and bosses!

A noteworthy and cheap option:

DPS is pretty comparable, just not 3 totems.

Our weapon/gloves are next:

Pretty popular item, insane DPS, dirt cheap for non-legacy, that's all.

The belt:

Pretty cheap... even for the Legacy version, so pretty much BiS. You're gonna level with it anyway, so just get one.

The boots:

Bleed immunity and res. Farm them in Uber Lab Intricate Locker. I've gotten 3 in a row.

Your ring and insane DPS boost:

Although this item is ridiculous OP in the legacy version, you can still kick ass with the non-leg.

For our chestpiece:
HA! no chest piece or 6L required. BoR is OP! ;)

The jewels:

Jewel stats priority:
Damage > Totem Damage > Area Damage > Chaos Damage > Damage Over Time > whatever else...

The flasks:

First 5 is what I use. Quicksilver for Uber and Mapping. Taste is a bit lower in DPS than the others, but still an option. And if you need some more res for an Elemental Weakness map or something...

The other gear:

As far as the skills and links, they're all in the items above. Not much to say, it's just what works best according to PoB.

**IMPORTANT**: Pay close attention to the level of the gems in the CWDT setup. You want low level gems, so that they proc more often.

There are some gems you can swap around:

Flame Golem > Stone Golem (guardians)
Vaal Haste > Vaal Grace
Concentrated Effect > Increased Area of Effect|Item Rarity

-::- How to play it -::-
Spoiler
-Trash- Run to biggest pack > Drop totem(s) > Pop flasks

-Bosses- Run to boss > Drop Vaal Lightning Trap > Drop totems > Pop Vaal Haste/Grace > Pop flasks > Watch shit just melt.

-Uber Izaro- Run to edge of his circle > Drop totems > Wait until Izaro is up and the ground plate "clicks" into place > Pop flasks and Warcry > "Circle of Exile" around Izaro. He usually won't last but a few seconds.

-::- What can this build do -::-
Spoiler
All content. It really shines at farming Uber Lab. Izaro lasts but a few seconds, if the phase allows it.

-::- What's a bit annoying -::-
Spoiler
Phys reflect cuz your totems one shot themselves. Just recast, it's doable, if you have to.

-::- Bandits -::-
Spoiler
Oak(life), Krait(atk spd), passive

That's all there is to say... Drop me some love if you like, hit me up in game, drop me a PM or just ask a question below. And again, PLEASE try to answer your own questions for at least 10-minutes with a bit of research before posting ;)

Enjoy boys and girls!

LOL!
nice work keep it up!
Appreciated homie! )
Can you maybe give some thoughts on why you go with Berserker over Chieftain?

Seems like they both end up with decent damage yet Chieftain seems a little bit more safer.

thx for your "chief"-builds! great work.
what would you prefer: starchief or rainchief?
(especially keeping doing guardians and shaper in mind)
i would say, block (50%) and evasion (+10%) is a big pro for rainchief, isn't it? or is shocking capability of starchief so much better for game play?
(i already have a high-roll 6-link starforge and a non-legacy fb (799%))

Honestly, I dunno anything about Chieftain. I just was just playing guggelhupf's build and wanted to use a Bringer of Rain and was lucky enough that now Path of Building exists.

I imagine Chieftain can work just as well. I welcome you to try it yourself in Path of Building. Should be a matter of minutes to see what the difference is.

You're welcome! And thanks for the kind words ))

So, each has their advantages...

Rain can use Shield Charge which is really nice for movement. I don't like Leap Slam as much. Rain also has 3 totems, which is very useful for breaches and things like that cuz you create a triangle and stand inside and basically all the waves of mobs crash into your totems. I like that a lot! The blocking as you said is a big big pro too. It took me quite a bit to be able to reach decent survivability with Star. Hence why I could NOT use BoR with Star. Without a shield and with a low life pool, it was just too squishy. Star is a much more dynamic build to play. The totems attack faster, and it also has a more stable high dmg output, as it shocks a lot of the time. Rain can only shock when you drop Vaal Lightning Trap.

If you haven't done one yet, I would say go Star, cuz the BoR build can be much more expensive since the legacy items will always be taunting you to get them ;) With Star, the most expensive thing is the Star itself, which is about the same price as Tuko's and the Kaom's. But if you want you can also do BoR non-legacy. That's how I farmed Uber for a long time...
