Key gambling makes me so much poorer.

You mean "there's a clear distinction"?

Nah, what i meant was that "there is a clear distinction" and I have used the wrong word. That being said, it's only a minor linking word that is wrong and does not substantially change the whole meaning of the message which I was trying to convey.

Mikrotherion wrote:

However, I said language, not words nor spelling. Language is the what you get from using the right words (correct spelling is a bonus in written language, since it can help to avoid misunderstandings) and correct grammar.

Nope, you are referring to the grammar, not the English language as proven by the fact that you quoted my phrase , "And FYI, people do not need to write in perfect grammar" and later proceeding to say that "they should , though, if they criticise others' use of the English language".

This suggested that you are saying that people should write in perfect grammar if they criticise others' use of the English language.

But, in actual fact grammar is not important in the internet era.

Mikrotherion wrote:

This is often the case, granted. But using grammar the wrong way can prevent people from understanding a sentence just the same as can using a (or several) wrong word(s). People often use "effect" when they mean "affect" (and possibly vice versa) or "literally" when they mean "not at all" - still most people understand what they mean.

Seriously, do you know what are you writing?

The examples that you have given have nothing to do with grammatical errors changing the entire meaning of the sentences, rather, IT IS ABOUT wrong wordings or spellings changing the meaning of the sentences.

What a joke.

Mikrotherion wrote:

Possibly. I'm not perfect. I try to use the right words and I don't often call people out on their mistakes, unless, like you, they tell people they should use a dictionary or take English lessons while making quite a few mistakes themselves.

Nah I am not demanding you should be perfect. Well, you are the one who frequently misunderstood other people's sentences meaning and also used the wrong wordings because "English is not my first language" in your many apology sentences from the past. And yet, you are the one who who tried to be an "English Teacher" trying so hard to educate other people's usage of the English Language. Oh my oh my I MISSED those "apology sentences" from you.

I wish i could dug those sentences one by one out if i have the time.

Mikrotherion wrote:

Granted, due to the baffling error correction the human brain is capable of, we can understand simple sentences quite well, even if there are severe grammatical mistakes, while using completely wrong words might make the sentence completely unintelligible. However, in more complex structures, wrong grammar can be just as fatal. So you are, of course, right when you say that the choice of the right words is more important than correct grammar. Saying that "grammar is not important", however, clearly falls into the category "wrong usage of words", since grammatically it is correct.

I stopped reading those lengthy rubbish when i saw your above-mentioned rubbish. You again and again used the wrong examples to support your claim which makes your argument invalid and not credible. Let me say this again, "GRAMMAR is not a word" this phrase alone rebuts all your rubbish arguments.

Or are you just evading? You are so angry, you do not even get the different people writing in the thread.

Btw, sarcasm = evade for you I guess.

Made my day.

Still does not change the fact that ....

All you did was evade and trying to change the topic when your argument has been put to shame such as

1) the fact that you're using your RNG as a PERFORMANCE INDICATOR to judge whoever is better at the game

3) calling the police over such trivial matter.

4) bringing unrelated matter or scenario to the case LOL " Hey Dad, I think I got a bish fig there, would you help me bringing it back?"

Only point 2 was removed but still those points above is still valid

Nah not so butthurt like someone who is shamed by some strangers publicly for using the wrong word to describe the situation. Seems like someone really needs a proper education.

Ok

But first i need to repeat this again.

Yes, that is exactly what I said. So if you criticise someone else's use of the English language (because of a grammatical mistake or usage of a wrong/ ambiguous word), you should not only use the right words, but should also not make many mistakes yourself. Because if you do, it makes you look a bit of a tit.

Yes, my examples show that even though a wrong word was used (effect, literally), most people get the meaning. I chose them in order to show you that using the wrong words does not necessarily make a sentence incomprehensible, whereas you said that grammatical mistakes are irrelevant, but not the usage of wrong words. I did not provide an example that shows how a grammatical mistake makes a whole sentence unintelligible, because frankly, I don't have one right now.
In hindsight, I should have written that more clearly.

People like you need to understand wording and spellings are more important than grammars and in the internet era and nobody writes in perfect grammar to convey messages. ONLY KEYWORDS and right spellings is required.

Stop it man, stop giving excuses like you used to do every now and then in the past.

Fact is that you used the wrong examples to support what you have claimed and this alone suggests that you really do not know what the shit you are writing.
