Zero New Skill Gems in 2.6

For 2.5, all we got, skill gem-wise, was a single support skill gem.

Now, for 2,6, we get... Nothing at all. No new skill gems, support or otherwise.

New skills are very important to the game, by adding new ways for players to enhoy the game. They're far more important, for example, than unique items or threshold jewels, which are far limited both in scope and in acquisition.

Yet, GGG has moved from releasing multiple new skills each league to no new skill gems at all.

This is a big loss for the game and for the players as a whole. I hope 3.0 will come with a significant number of new, viable skill gems.

If GGG is out of idea for new skill gems, just make a "Design a Skill Gem" competition. Most of the entries would be trash, as is to be expected from a free to play game, but at least a couple new ideas would rise to the top.

Maybe they finally stopped listening to people like you aka "more is better" and realized that they have like 20+ useless skill gems in the game and it's time to rework/buff them instead of making new ones?

3.13 was the pinnacle of PoE. IVYS+1 Gang 4 Life.
The new threshold gems for EK and FP are vastly more exciting than some woefully under powered or overpowered fotm gem.

In 3.0 we will have new skills, so this is not a problem. Why we can't get it in 2.6? They are definitely need a time to fully test them all - simple reason..

Pretty sure most players probably haven't even used half of the skills we already have. This constant want of new skills is one of the things that keeps them from taking the time to go back and fix the old ones.

The new league brings along a slew of threshold gems that, at least in some cases, drastically alter a skill's functionality or improve 'bad' skills in such a way that they can be competitive (like EK becoming a nova or glacial hammer getting a free splash plus full conversion). On top of the 10 new ones they mentioned are being added, they also claimed they're reworking old ones, implying that previous threshold jewels will get remade to be on par with the new much-more-impactful ones.

With that many threshold jewels incoming with significant skill-altering effects, there's sure to be a nice array of new playstyles available despite not getting any new gems directly. And 3.0 is supposed to have brand new gems for us as well.

As much as I'd love to see some more actual physical and chaos ranged spells, there's also a lot of rebalancing I'd like to see for gems I want to use but have no viable place endgame.
There's also no channeled ice/lightning spells or bow abilities to hook into the cast while channeling stuff.
