"Offering to the Goddess" -> I don't like this

Also, if it's easier for you to label everyone who disagrees as "trolls" just to disregard what they say, be my guest; You wouldn't be the first christian to mindlessly push his own agenda without giving even the slightest thought to others' opinions or arguments, and you certainly won't be the last before the whole structure falls apart. But hey, at least you're doing it in an internet forum, which is a heck of a lot less dangerous than the burning, torturing and butchering of people your predecessors were into whenever someone disagreed with them.

The fact that maybe one or two people stupid enough to believe in some imaginary being are annoyed by a name is most definitely not reason enough to change it. Check your self-importance - you and your religion aren't really important to anyone here.

In fact, I bet there would be a LOT more people upset and leaving if GGG caved in to the minor pressure of one silly religious individual, and hopefully they still understand this, just like they understood it back when Elreon offended a bunch of people with his religious talk and symbolism.

I very seriously doubt they are going to change the name of this, nor should they. If you can't separate your personal religious view from a game, then you might as well not play 90% of the games on the market today.

The item is just a key to open a zone. It's not like it's something you place on an altar and pledge your soul to a made up NPC. You feed it to the map device and it allows you to access the zone.

You probably missed it, but the "actual topic" is the OP and his beliefs. Or rather, how they don't go well with the game, and that means the game is somehow wrong. You're instantly assuming that same position, whereas I am assuming the position that the game is fine, and the OP and his beliefs are the actual problem here.

Not to mention that my first post was friendly enough (as friendly as can be with a person following a religion of mass murder and genocide), after which I was personally attacked by him. I don't see how I'm out of line, really.

Moreover, it's normal for people to be annoyed when one guy comes along full of self-importance and self-righteousness and demands that the game be changed to fit his religion, lest he quits the game - as if his absence would somehow make the game poorer. Good riddance.

Whoa, you actually think Christianity of all religions is one of mass murder and genocide? Do you even know what Christians believe? Where in the world are you getting your information? Even reading Wikipedia will give you a more accurate summation.

Christian doctrine and christian actions are two entirely different things. Doctrine claims you should not kill, doctrine claims you should never strike back, doctrine claims you should never betray your marriage partner. Last time I checked, those things happen in the christian world.

I call christianity a religion of mass murder and genocide because that is what they did when they spread. A genocide of European pagans who stood opposed to the spread of this alien, outlander religion. I can immediately point you to "witch burnings", destruction of pagan temples (If you ever happen to visit the Acropolis in Athens, send me a PM, and I'll come tell you in person all about the Pagan Temple of my forefathers that you visit as an attraction). You could read about the butchering of Eastern European pagans by the Teutonic Order. You could read about what the 4th Crusade did to Constantinople, capital of the Byzantines (A CHRISTIAN empire). You could read about what ALL Crusades did to the Muslims in the "Holy Lands", for that matter.

I could go on and on, but this is not a religious debate forum. If Christianity is not a religion of war and death, I honestly do not know what religion deserves that title. (For the record, I was raised in a predominantly Christian country, one that had its pagan religion thoroughly stamped underfoot.)

Depends solely on how you define "Christian". In MANY languages, they have one word defining the belief of Jesus as "Christians". And tho Protestants may not have much "dirt" on them, they sprung out of Catholicism. And the amount of (in lack of better words) shit the church has caused over the years, "genocide" and "mass murder" may not be the worst words to use, thinking about the crusades and whatnot.

I am quite astonished that someone can find "offensive" such innocent thing like "offering to the goddess" and somehow connect it with Christianity.

if it was called "offering to Mary the Holy Mother" or "offering to Jesus" i could understand that certain people would find it unacceptable.

the OP hasn't even explained why exactly this item is unacceptable to him and forces him to stop playing the game.

below equations are incomprehensible to me. clarity is the first requirement to be understood. so far this does not make any sense to me.

Sacrifice + Goddess + Me

But I'm saying:
Sacrifice + Goddess + PoE = No Me

as for other comments regarding OP's religion - they are out of place. it doesn't matter if his religion is "obnoxious" or not. however, it does matter why the item in the game triggers the OP to start a thread like this.

in all honesty, i am quite certain that a complaint from one person about an item the name of which he finds unacceptable will not convince GGG to change it. so perhaps the best advice one could give the OP is to either accept the game as it is or just stop playing and find something that does not offend his vulnerable feelings.

Back when christians got triggered by Elreon's references to God and obvious christian symbolism and complained (because it was "blasphemous"), GGG changed nothing. I sure as heck hope that the case will be the same now.

Since when are one person's religious beliefs enough to change a game?

So if ten people appeared whose religion believes it is wrong to destroy undead skeletons, GGG should remove all skeleton-based mobs from the game?
