Fallout 4....the disappontment

Sorry to hear it. I actually quite like Bethesda.
Censored.
Bethesda hasn't had a good game since Oblivion Expansions.

I understand what u r saying man but u have to consider what u can do in POE and what u can do in D3...
POE servers are more stressed beacouse all the crazy things u can do in the game. I was dissapointed that they nerfed CoC so hard...was really looking forward to making a build like that.
D3 on the other hand is quite boring since nothing sets builds apart...its just get ur set..slap crit and crit damage and get bigger and bigger crits...all characters go after the same stats and build the same way (with VERY few exceptions).

So i rather have a slightly broken but fun game than a perfect running boring game.

My issues with PoE are almost entirely with the economy, and trading. Like 90% of my issues. The game is just mind numbing for people who don't like trading. I was never able to find a way to have fun in this game without trading and flipping items. Because I was never able to acquire any gear to make any of the builds I wanted to play without doing that.

PoE is one of those games where I like the core mechanics, the variety of builds, skills, gameplay etc, but hate absolutely everything else about it. And "everything else" amounts to about 50% of the game.

And then you have the whole "leagues" dynamic combined with the economy. Everybody gets dumped in standard eventually where the economy is centered around items that don't even drop anymore. This is just another quirk to PoE that I don't like. Leagues aren't the problem. Leagues + economies are the problem. Again, I don't have to worry about this in D3.

D3 might not have as much depth (biggest issue with D3), but that's the sorta game I can play inebriated. And I don't have to worry about economies or trading. I just go kill shit and get items. And decent gear actually drops in that game, unlike PoE. Loot 2.0 was the best thing that ever happened to that game. I wouldn't be playing D3 if it wasn't for loot 2.0. I wouldn't have wasted my time if it was the same old PTW auction house bullshit.

They will fix trade in 3.0.

Chrilson said that they will fix a problem that was never fixed in other games of the genre.
i'm willing to put money down that he refers to trade.

Inb4 they announce a revised implementation of the Labyrinth that better accommodates all playing styles.

I put about 200+ hours in fallout 4 so far, and my findings are:

- the updated old ass game engine just not cut it anymore, myself as well as many many other people where really disappointed to learn that they reuse the old engine for this game
- quests do get repetitive especially radiant quests
- the addition of sims game is really bad, regardless on how you look at it, most people do not enjoy nor want to spend time building a settlement. I personally only enjoy doing a small build each play-through to establish a base for myself (and all my junk)
- there is not enough open buildings in FO4, so even though you are walking in a concrete jungle it something feel like a barren plains as there is no where to go in.
- game has many bugs, and dirty edits, that should not be there. Again modders had to step up where Beth could not.

in conclusion, this is another game that can only be saved by modders and mods. The bad decision making made this game "fun" for very few people, due to Bethesda sick interest with Sims (which can also be seen in fallout shelter).

YES I support the game, NO I don't agree with many GGG decisions

Exactly...relying on modders to do theyr work for them is just shitty, I played 3 -4 months after launch and it was still buggy as hell, with some quests needing a workaround... that is unacceptable...

So theyr mentality is why do the work when others can do it for u for free.
So, is Fallout 4 not polished yet?

I always avoid Bethesda games at least for a year since first release, usually until they release some "GOTY" version that is fully patched and mostly bug-free / feature-full. Looks like I'll skip it for another year...

You didn't like Skyrim? Just curious, why?

- Terrible skill system (what you get to choose from when leveling up)

- For the most part, there are only 6 or 7 different melee weapons in the game of which there are I think 6 tiers of them. They all attack and perform identically except the Daedric tier which attacks slightly faster than the rest (woot performing the exact same attacks slightly faster!). There are unique weapons but it is difficult to keep a lot of them charged/useful during the course of normal gameplay and aside from their unique properties the melee attacks are the same as regular versions of that weapon. Dunno about ranged or magic weaponry.

- Smithing is broke as heck and you can easily get Dragon Bone tier weaponry. The crafting system is also extremely simplistic and because there aren't a lot of different melee weapon types and each tier of each weapon type virtually performs the same as every other tier it feels really lack luster.

- Enchanting is very simplistic and is stupidly easy to make stupidly over powered weaponry and armour.

- The speed and ease of getting over powered gear in the game makes for a stupidly rapid character progression resulting in the gameplay getting stale super fast.

- Character attributes (strength, dexterity etc.) that are improved by doing an action repeatedly don't feel that meaningful. The more obvious acrobatics attribute is missing from the game which had a huge impact on the perception of your character improving the longer you play (even if it was simple to buff it).

- Dungeon/cave designs don't really change in complexity, length or difficulty. It feels like they developed a blueprint and strictly adhered to it. I prefer Oblivion's interior locations.

- Bland story and the voice acting sounds like the actors are bored to death. Also, NPC dialog is very repetitive and groan worthy. Yes it is repetitive in older games but the things they say in the older games tend to not make you groan uncontrollably for hours until someone slaps you.

- Every aspect of the game, from a Melee perspective, is vastly better in Oblivion and Morrowind. Oblivion also has The Shivering Isles which is excellent stuff as it revolves around best guy.

Only good thing about Skyrim, is it is less crash prone. Only good thing about Skyrim Special Edition is it is x64, so modders can make grander, bigger, more amazing mods than ever before and Players are also better able to use multiple mods together without issues.

On topic of Skyrim.

Personally I loved it. My steam shows over 1k+ hours played and I must say I think I still not explore everything there is to explore there.

I love the skills tree, and crafting the freedom.

On a side note tho:
- I havent played skyrim vanilla for at least 2 years, maybe more
- having a game with 250+ esp's and over 600 mods in total is my usual setup, so some may say its not really skyrim, but it is! just a bit better.
- I run many mods to modify the AI, skills and the tree it self to make for interesting playthoughs on legendary difficulty.

If you really dont enjoy the basic skyrim experience you should try mods. You can make your enemies really smart, fights really tough, when timed blocking, dodging and generally using strategy in each fight is very important (unless you like dyeing).
You can make magic really brutal, where engaging mages as melee is quite dangerous. One has to run and dodge as well as use anti magic to cover the distance to allow for melee attacks.

There are mods that change drop rate, crafting requirements and materials as well as ways you train and improve.

The list goes on and on....

What I want to say is that you should give mods a try if you dont enjoy vanilla skyrim, same applies to Fallout 4

The system itself is pretty good actually as a mix of the one in previous games and perk system, the one used before was bad because it detracted from the gameplay experience too much. I suppose it's nice if you like to have something to fiddle with but it doesn't really work with you, got to fight it all the way. For me, it also detracts from the immersion, if Morrowind was an MMO it would be the absolute dumbest looking one on the market because everyone would hop around like rabbits or swim into a conveniently placed rock for hours.

As for the perks in Skyrim, some are a bit bland but you can just use mods that change it, which goes for most of the other parts of the game that bother you. Except voice acting, but I never felt it was that bad, I mind overly enthusiastic voice acting way more.

What I'm really missing, though, are custom spells, gotta say I'm pretty excited we have that feature in that new RPG from obsidian.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
