The Goddess Bound - Build ideas

Nah, degen doesn't count as taking damage.

It does count as taking damage (eg: abyssus means you take more damage from blood rage). It just doesn't count as having taken damage, for cwdt. A bit strange if you ask me!
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Probably makes sense from the technical side, they can't keep track of degen but it does sound strange, that's why I like saying it :)

They should really update that tooltip.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

What other recipe is there?

The current recipe calls for a 6S Lithe Blade. When the sword was just released, it called for a 6L Exquisite Blade. It was shortly patched to not require such an expensive item afterwards. There's only one recipe now.

Does Scorned shut down Poison and Bleed? Otherwise Assassin with a lot of leech might be nice

That's correct, Scorned shuts down both.

However, Unleashed does not. It wouldn't be optimal in the current patch, but a triple derived degen (poison, ignite, bleed) could be quite cool.

In case you were wondering, my Unleashed build is an Assassin. I like comboing skills, so I have a Melee Splash Puncture setup on him, as well as Reave for my 6L. I think I already mentioned him in the thread but I'll repeat for good measure, his name is IzaroEcho

Second edit was to correct my bad memory of old recipe

Would you mind posting your assassins tree?

Now I feel like I need a second Bound.

I take it the Assassin went full on leech to recover life?

Sure, no problem. For future reference you should be able to view trees by clicking my username (adghar), clicking Characters, clicking IzaroEcho, then scrolling to the bottom of the page to view the tree. I did that just now, and I gotthis tree.

Quite the opposite, actually, I was thinking of it as pseudo-RF, so I built Purity of Fire and tried to get regeneration. I had a legacy Blood Dance laying around so I used that and the regen is quite handy to stay afloat. But note that I didn't take IzaroEcho very far into endgame, I mostly liked to run it through The Harvest and kill Malachai's three guardians. For that, and for Merciless (Sarn) Izaro, just flasking in time was enough, as Evasion + the Dodge keystones + Blind heavily, heavily reduces enemy DPS. Relying on flasks is a bit scary, but I found myself dying surprisingly rarely once I got the hang of it.

For true endgame play I would probably want to use Leech like you suspect, especially if I wanted to downgrade to non-legacy Blood Dance.

Of course, Trickster would do better in the recovery department (not sure if you know that the increased recovery rate there works on both Leech and Regeneration), but I am a DPS addict so Assassin was necessary for me to enjoy Unleashed fairly early.

A few things:

1) I've done the math and Vitality is actually better than Purity of Fire, if your Res is capped without the Aura (at least for a right side of the tree build).

2) After a lot of theorycrafting I came up with two different ways to play with the sword: A crit version (best as Assassin) and a non crit version (best as Chieftain). The chieftain is tankier but I was concerned about DPS so I went with the Assassin for my own build.

It's important to think about what skill you're going to use, and where that will put you relative to monsters, so you can work out the level of defenses you'll need.

How about inquisitor?
Go CI+ZO, then you can have 9% regen and you can still relatively easy to crit

Sorry for the slight necro, but I've fiddled with my TGU build and I'm putting it down here half for my own records and half in case anyone was looking at my build and trying to copy it.

Abyssus increased damage taken was just too much; I got one-shot by Uber Izaro. Tried Bringer of Rain instead, liked what I saw, now trying to retool my build.

Old tree: here

New tree: planned replacement

Just got around to my Scorned upgrade.

I want to buy/farm another bound already for a different build idea.

I have to have had the worst, most suck ass roll ever.

Starting to look for my two swords I will need for the next upgrade, lets hope it goes better.

Good luck getting enough regen, enough crit, and enough ES, along with the relevant damage nodes and gearing, to make that work. Inquisitor with life is doable but is a large tree traverse before it will really work.

If you want to go crit you need to be on the right side of the tree with TGU. Assassin helps a lot because you can get your base crit at or above 10.

By the way, I have posted a full guide of what I did. You can check it out for reference and/or inspiration.

I also used regeneration, but I found that PoF is actually weaker than Vitality for this build, assuming your fire res is capped without PoF. Here's the math that shows it:
PoF (assume lvl 20 for best effect) = (1-.79)*0.33 = 6.93% degen
Base = (1-0.25)*0.33 = 8.25% degen
8.25%-6.93% = 1.32% effective regen that PoF is giving you.
A level 14 vitality with no aura effect adds 1.35% regen to your character. So Vitality is actually better for a build like this.

Thanks for the calculation. With my current setup, I'm actually very hard-pressed to get resists (Bringer of Rain, Blood Dance), plus the additional max fire res also helps defend against incoming fire damage.

For anyone too lazy to look it up in the wiki, level 20 Vitality has 1.65% life regen, so

1.65 - 1.32 = 0.33% life regen is the marginal benefit of switching from POF to Vit, while

1-0.21/0.25 = 0.16 = 16% less fire damage taken from enemies is the marginal benefit of switching from Vit to POF

16% less damage can also be said as 1 / 0.84 = 19% more eHP vs fire damage from enemies.

So, obviously, some people would want Vitality, but surprisingly, PoF seems better for me right now.

Tried a re-roll - got a little better.

Gonna upgrade it again eventually so not willing to spend any more currency on it. Save that for her third manifestation.

Not ideal -- Did get a lucky couple of rolls and get 5l though.

Makes me wonder if a single base roll controls most or all of the stats on the items.

Guess I could work on crit a little - base 10% is awesome.
