People come and go. I came and stayed, others did the same or left. In my opinion, especially older players are likely to leave. They've played for a long time, have done everything in this game. They might check out a new expansion - or they might not. What is important and what you implicitly mentioned: Get new players and make a percentage of them long term players - so that with people coming and others going the amount of people playing roughly stays the same (or grows). But yeah, game's been dead since I started in open beta (original open beta, not awakening). Game is dying threads are as old as the game itself but, in all fairness, perm HC has been unplayable for some time and last two temp HC leagues were in a pathetic state too. The temp HC league depopulation coincided with the uber lab. I'm sure it's just a coincidence though. You have to be realistic about these things. GGG refuses to acknowledge this and will not provide us with raw numbers, or group the people playing in to groups of long term vs short term players. From one casual league to the next, the number of new players who stay onboard goes up (according to their unquantified claims) but there is no mention of the mass exodus happening in the more experienced. I give the game two more years before it is a ghost town and is made up only the most dedicated and fresh meat. It has already happened in HC. :^) Better luck in your next game, mario.
