GGG is lying to you.

The game is dying? Okay. Show me numbers. Not your friends list. Not your guild list. Those are anecdotal. Show me hard numbers. New accounts, player retention, engagement, concurrent users, etc. So far, no one has shown any hard evidence.

GGG has said people aren't racing anymore. I believe that.
You could persuade me that fewer players are playing hardcore. At least there's a modicum of evidence with the weird fluctuations in the currency market. You could even correlate that to the release of the Labyrinth, and I would, at least, entertain the idea. But without hard numbers - something concrete you can point to - this is all pointless speculation.

A week to become competetive in endgame.

You, sir, have absolutely no idea of what "competitive" means, since in this game aside from races there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING competitive.

/facepalm
People seem to forget ALL the russians came over and PoE has still less players than last league :/
These russia/garena etc. merges are just attempts to keep the game alive

Even with Russian players this league this can't beat Perandus League (March 2016) player stats.

PoE Steam Charts

I wonder why GGG ignores the obvious fact that most players are tired of gear starvation. Many have quit this year for lack of endgame gear to do red maps. It's not that we want rain of uniques or anything close to it. It's just that gear starvation is not pushing us into trading more. Either we just muddle along and suffer with few endgame gear for the red maps (forget Guardians or The Shaper) and are not very happy or we quit. I mean where is the financial logic in starving us out of playing. I'm a loyalist (me and my Kiwi) so I'm here until act 5 but my PoE happiness quotient has hit rock bottom with GGG not fixing trading in over 3 years and not making solo playing more rewarding. (I'll stop the trolls by saying: I know, I know... GGG has coded PoE around trading for better gear.) Come on GGG if you want us to engage in trading give us asynchronous trade function so we don't need to hunt down the god damn seller to buy anything. That is so last century arpg programming. Computers are supposed to make things easier yet lack of QoL features is killing many player's desires to continue grinding.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Thanks legacys and bots for raising the prices. And one shooting.
Like its not funny.
The game is not dying.
I have been playing since 2012, the thing is that people play in periods, myself included. I have not been playing constantly, but I always come back for portions say 6-8 months at a time.

I am a casual player though, and 86 is my highest level character so far, and this game is bloody awesome for casual players because there is always more todo, and GGG release content faster than what us casual players can consume it.

I usually dont even play leagues, I always played in Standard and I love it.

The game is probably growing, I have several friends who has recently started playing, because there isn't any other ARPG out there with the depth and endgame that PoE can offer, and afaik none in the making. PoE will continue to thrive for years to come, until something better comes a long I don't think people will stop playing.

A dead gaem thread is not complete until someone throws out Steam Charts . . .
ded gaem. ded.

O-no! Two ranting forum members left the gaem! We're doomeeedd!

Meanwhile, on the game server - 3000 new players!

Oh, oh! Fuck, almost forgot! Steam charts! Because they are so relevant at the end of the league!

This never gets old. I'ma sit one day with you kids, and remember these old days, where PoE was dying for the 20th time, and we'll have a good laugh. You'll see. :_)
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.

This post is funny because it shows that this league has higher retention than Perandus.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
