The question is legit, though. Leveling this character, as a league starter, for the first 30 or so levels is holy batshit god-awful, so slow and one of the worst experiences I've had taking all those ES nodes and not the dmg / cast speed ones.

Just one thing I'm confused about in this guide: at the top of the "leveling"/"skill trees" section, it says:
Use Firestorm/Spark/Spell Totem for early stage. Only use Flameblast after you have got the Elemental Proliferation support gem (around late A4 Normal to A1 Cruel). After that everything should run smoothly.
But when I look at the gem setups, I don't see EP support gem linked to flameblast anywhere? Are you supposed to use it while leveling and swap it out later?

When you guys say to wait until ascendancy prolif before going FB - what mode arr you referring to? Beacon?
Leveling with 2 ashcaller and soon icetomb armor using self cast firestorm and fire totem as well on bosses. Level 30. Does this seem like a good approach? Thinking of testing fb on totem instead of fire totem later today though

Yeah I'm wondering this too. I don't really understand what gems exactly I should use.
Like if I only have a 4 link at the moment, what gems for flame blast? Or do I
need the 5 link for it to work?
I'm now in Cruel A1 and flameblast doesn't really seem to work....
EDIT: How important is a ele dmg sceptre for flameblast? I've only been using wands so far...

This one you are more active while playing. Totems is mostly running in circles.
Also totem build don't use resistance curses. So you lose out on -40 to 50 res on enemies. I don't know how much loss that is.
Go totem if you want a "safer" experience.
Damage wise totem will lose out. If it really matters is up to you.

I'm now in Cruel A1 and flameblast doesn't really seem to work....
I started with faster casting ele proli and fb in a +1 fire gems wand at the same time and it was ok......
Not great but ok (i dont like firestorm at all and it was better aoe but much worse vs bosses)
But i feel like ele prolif is kinda wasted with that low amount of crit....
Ps. start using orb of storms vs "hard" bosses for the ele equi prog.
