[2.4] COI (cast on ignite) Tanky, high dps ,can cast any spells you want



after the succes of my COLB build i found new cool mechanic to use.

this buid got showed on build of the week

Mechanics

in order to start this build we need 2 uniques:

notice the synergy between them, one make you take damage when you ignite, and the other heal you when you ignite, so you can actually heal pretty fast while triggering alot of Cast When Damage Taken spells.
of course we want to have the maximum number of CWDT per second, so we wont have 75% fire resistance, but lower, in order to recieve higher damage.
we want to make alot of seplls, and make them ignite frequenbtly.
the spell that hit the most per sec is ofcourse blade vortex.
first of all, we will use anger (in order to make every spell / attack we use have a cahnce to ignite)

how to proc reliably alot of ignites all the time

the links im using for max ignite per sec are:


4 links (helmet) : CWDT (lvl 1 for max procs) + Blade vortex + increased aoe + increased duration
(notice i used essence of hysteria to craft the helm to get 50% chance to ignite)


3 links (sword) : CWDT (lvl 1 for max procs) + chance to ignite + firestorm
(can hit alot of times the same enemey)


4 links (boots/gloves) : CWDT (lvl 1 for max procs) + GMP + 20% quality fireball + ball lightning

in tree i have 25% chance to ignite, another 10% from
, and another 5% from


in the ascendancy area i chose the cheftien for another 15% chance to ignite (there are other good options, more details in the ascendancy area down below)

so i have a total of 55% chance to ignite.
my blade vortex have 105% chance to ignite thx to the helm
my fireball have 97% chance to ignite
my ball lightning that can hit same enemy more that once have 55% to ignite
my firestorm have more than 100% chance to ignite

so as long as there is enemy near me, ill proc the spells all the time.

for other spells will be linked to higher lvl cwdt in order to make higher damage and higher spells lvl. i chose to use lvl 14 cwdt setup, which let me use lvl 17 spells.


Math

there is a fine line here, that we need to use.
on one hand, we want to take as much damage from eye of the innocance, so we will trigger CWDT faster.
on the other hand' we dont want to take too much damage, and to heal fast enough in order to not die from stuff, and be strong enough in other situations.
so you need to balance your fire res and your life. ( i also find that dual wield razor sowrds are mandetory)
i myself have found that the optimal values are 30% fire res, and ~ 5500 life atm, will soon get to 6k+ life.
with 30% fire res we take 70 damage every ignite form

dual wielding
and having 5.5K life make us get back 110 life.
so in total we heal for 40 life per ignite, and that happens alot of times per sec!
if youre thinking i should lower my res even more, please notice there are cases that make us take more damage than that (elemental weakness maps, shock ground etc), so those number is good enough to deal with those.


Gear

- already explained in details in the mechanics area
- those are mandetory, explained in the mechanics and math area
- nice res belt that let us add another 10% chance to ignite
- nice for the fire damage and chance to ignite (and will be awesome if ill get the taming ring).

Tree

the tree im using atm (lvl 84) is this:

Ascendancy classes

i chose Chieftain for the 15% chance to ignite, but that not mandetory, other good options:
Ascendant- take the cheftian node and also get 15% chance to ignite)
Juggernaut- no 155 chance to ignite, but with endurance charges can proc alot of discharge for better single target dps, this might be the best option.
Assasin - can probably some other version of this with crit insted of chance to ignite
Elementalist - good vs reflect and free ignites part of the times and prolif


Single target problem

the single target dps is not great atm, i thought about 2 options how to improve that:
1. go for Chieftain and discharge option
2. get The taming ring (this is by far the best option, but the most expansive)
3. i thought about really clever mechanics, that seem to be bugged atm
the use of rat cage and vall molten shell should be huge once that will work.


Pros anc Cons

+ unique mechanic and fun
+ relatively cheap (only scold's cost here anything)
+ versitle - can choose alot of skills to play with this concept, in alot of ways.
+ can work with alot of different ascendency classes
+ great dps
+ very good clear speed
+ good for most map mods


- not HC vailable

- can be laggy
- not great single target until you get the taming ring

I'm sorry if i hijack your build I just love the mechanic behind it!

So i tried to make a crit version - 100% chance to ignite on crit. I put together some leftover gear on standard (basic stuff a 6 link shavs cause i don't have good CI 6l and the rest is prety much standard) The idea was to go pathfinder to get 100% uptime on non legacy vinktars for leech together with vaal pact and diamond flask for crit.
Main source of dmg discharge on lvl 20cwdt (damage per hit 60k).

results: CI > low life!
procs are somewhat unreliable, not sure why tho. Sometimes i proc 5 discharges in a sec and then 10s without discharge even tho i'm still taking damage from bladevortex ignites. Clear speed suffers from it the most, sometimes i run with quicksilver and everything is dying then i need to dance around a single pack, waiting for discharge to proc.


Overall there is a definitely potential so perhaps if someone can polish it.
I will definitely keep an eye on this build. I'm looking forward to see what ideas you guys will come up with!

(tested on t12 maps solo and 6man public party t10 - very good clear speed, boss damage sub par)

I had a go at respeccing a character in to the Juggernaut Discharge variant.
Character Name: GlobulinProtein (still a WIP though)

Using 8 Endurance charges atm (3 base + 3 tree + Merc Oak + Jugg Node)
A +1 Endurance charge belt would be ideal, and a Kaom's Sign/Way could work if you don't use Essence Worm.

A few changes I made:
Going for the Blood Magic keystone for the 35% increased life you get from the 4 nodes and using an
so that I can still run Anger, and gives me +2 to level of Anger.
Allows me to link Fortify to Cyclone (not actually sure if Fortify reduces damage taken from
though.
Also lets you use Clear Mind Jewel.

You could possibly use Mantra of Flames to free up the ring slot since it adds fire damage so you no longer need Anger.

in Main Hand for the bonus 25% chance to Ignite (does actually work on spells not just attacks). Giving me 70% chance to ignite with a flask active + up to 14% from Flammability. Also has 1.5 AS rather than 1.3 for more Cyclone Ignites.
You're losing healing by not having a second Razor of the Seventh Sun, but you Ignite more often so you can afford to have higher fire resist (which reduces damage taken from Eye of Innocence).

I'm just using a Belly of the Beast atm, but Kingsguard is probably BIS

Note: If you do the Juggernaut build, then your Fire Resistance increases from getting Endurance charges, which reduces your proc rate (Dyadus partially solves that though). The build works ok for me even with 76% fire resistance, and therefore I believe it could be HC viable (Endurance charges give you fire res, so to have low res with them you'd get 1 shot when they're down).
Wouldn't be surprised if a streamer played it and it became meta.

Might be worth using a spell rather than Cyclone to proc the initial Ignites, which lets you drop RT and use EO (although then you don't get Fortify).

Also I'm on Standard so I can't use a "Socketed gems have 50% chance to Ignite" helm unless I somehow get one from someone dying on EHC. Doesn't seem to be any for sale though.

i started the testing with dydus , but found it less good the a liitle bit less res and another razor sword.

even without RT you should hit every now and than, and than be able to take elemental overlord keystone for 40% more elemental damage.
