You heard me mate - PoE's storyline is not about YOU. Whole world doesn't come to you to present itself. You have to explore, look for clues and eventually you might learn something.

PoE so hardcore even the story line is obscured. One got to work hard to even get a clue.

You are tired Perq, go home ;)

It's a valid narrative design. Dark Souls does it really well too. Other positive examples are Shadow of the Colossus and Half Life 1 to some extent. As for negative examples, Destiny tried it and failed. There's nothing wrong with spoon-fed story telling if it's good, but D3's is shit tbh.

Also PoE feeds lore pretty much the same way the first two Diablo games did, exspecially Diablo I. The cool thing about Diablo I was that you didn't really knew too much about what was going on. Most of the lore about sanctuario was hidden in books and some you got from Cain (if you actually listened to him).

In D3 Blizzard propably figured that most people don't read these lore parts anyway and pushed the story right into your face. And they overdid it massively and it didn't made any sense. The worst part (and at the same time most hillarious one) is Act3, Azmodan basially told you every single step he was doing.

Remember in D2, the first time you heard the name Duriel was when he was right in your face. No introduction, nothing. And even though this was maybe a bit too much silence (because it took a while until I noticed that he was, like Andariel, one of the lesser evils), PoE does it a lot better and more in line with how Andariel and Mephisto are introduced.

But the reason we knew nothing about Duriel also made a lot of sense, he was there to protect the entrapped Tyrael, so of course people didn't knew about him, and if nobody knew about him nobody could tell you. And that was pretty much how the story in D1 and D2 was told, which is very similar to how PoE does it.

Another thing is that the D3 story is lagging a lot because they essentially cut a whole part (between A3 and A4). You were supposed to bring the black soulgem somewhere (I can't remember the name of the city, but it also had interesting lore surrounding it), and Adria would have betrayed you there, not in the about 10 seconds it takes you to return from Azmodan to the Bastion.
D3 lore , wait what ?
