[2.5] Burning Vortex Build - Double Degen Tank Elementalist - Shaper Viable - HC or SC

Apologies if this is answered elsewhere. But would Rapid Decay be a decent alternative for the 6th link perhaps? It seems that the 39% more damage would be pretty epic, although I'm not positive as to the interaction with Vortex.

That being said, thanks a ton for the guide! Will likely be my 3rd 90 in Hardcore Essence. Fun build.

Hey thanks for the question I don't think it has been asked before. The only reason I didn't go with Rapid Decay is that it won't benefit Flameblast when that is switched in to your chest piece for easier killing of hard bosses. If you wanted to carry around Hypothermia gem instead of increased burning damage to support a 5 or 6 link Flameblast then it could be a viable option all around, as long as you are chilling the target with Vortex.

Hey that sucks to hear but hopefully it won't take too many for you. I checked the calculator and it says it will be on average 208 chromatic orbs for 4 blue and 2 red on a Carcass Jack.

I just updated the video section with a Shaper kill using a slightly modified version of the build (for more jewel's)

Thanks for adding the shaper video! Will check it out in depth sooner or later. Gotta say, this is quickly becoming one of my favorite builds. Just hit 81 during the Uber lab, ended up killing him with 3/3 idols up and 2/3 portals. Not that I recommend doing so to anyone else; there was a lot of "failing" involved on my part which is why I went up against stacked odds and over-flasked myself / barely survived while kiting a room full of enemies. That being said, had I adequately prepared, it would've been a great fight.

Very balanced build, works perfectly in terms of mitigation while not jumping on the CI bandwagon. I can imagine some variants of the build which give more speed at the cost of defense, but personally it sits perfectly on clear speed and defense for me. (edit: The builds' positioning on the tree allows for a multitude of minor tweaks, which is another huge strength for it. Very, very adaptable.)



(I know I need a Rumi's lol. Jade flask was only used for affixes; didn't have another.)

I've added an essence craft on the gloves for Lightning Warp, and contemplating adding Rapid Decay to it but still unsure what I'd even replace. Also lol'd @ the carcass jack in main post, I had a portal gem in my green socket for the longest time.

Also I'm curious about this interaction with the build (ignore sockets):



It may enable faster warping between packs, a bit more defense, and in regards to the Lightning added to spells... I *believe* it would only add lightning damage to the initial hit for vortex, not the subsequent ignite*. That being said, I don't know how Elemental Equilibrium would respond with that additional factor, or how the ground mechanics would work.

If it works well then perhaps it would be a decent addition to the build if one would wish to prioritize speed without losing much defense. And as an added benefit, the boot slot becomes more or less free in terms of movement speed when LW'ing between packs. Just some thoughts.

Hey dude I am really glad you are enjoying the build, I haven't tested singularity much at all so it could be worth messing about and seeing how you like it, if it does good work let me know and I can mention it in the pool of option's. Ele Equilibrium would only get messed up if any added "damage" to spell's isn't lightning based. Orb of Storm's can only deal lightning damage to keep the maximum benefit of making the mob's vulnerable to Cold and Fire.

On my Essence Softcore dude I use Shield Charge, Faster Attacks linked to Fortify as my main movement skill, it is way better then I expected. The only draw back is I have to give up my CwDT setup to fit it in and I still run a lightning warp for jumping gap's etc so may not be the best use of sockets for a HC dude.

Let me know if Singularity is working good for you and if you have any other Q's feel free to ask. Rumi's is a good flask choice for end game (Witchfire Brew is also nice as a free 2nd curse option, I will update some info on flasks at some point)

Hi all. thank you for that build man :) I like it so much.I'm playing in essence softcore. Atm i obtain dual curse using windscram boots, i have 5.6k armor, 6kliife, 1.9k es, 75ele res on mercy. No problem with high tier map (till 14). I find some problems on an atziri run. I finish my portal trying hard with that chaos bitxx during second fight (the trio). Any issues against her? I leave her at last but probably is better focus my damage over her at first? too much chaos damage (i have -60) but she has so haigh ele resis...damn...i follow your general guide for the build...

Hey dude Im glad you are enjoying the build :D

For the trio i would fight the titty bitch first, then the dual striker fire guy, then kill the cyclone guy last. Fighting Atziri herself may be a little annoying since she can't be ignited but if you focus on a 5 or 6 Link Vortex with Elemental focus or something it may be better (or you can just chunk her down with flameblast if you wanted)
