"Premium" Stash Tabs (New player feedback)

Here is a poll that Chris run in the first days of hc essence league. This is from my logfile:

I don't think GGG cares about gating important functionalities behind paywalls or that players have enough stash tabs to not resemble the MMO trash games with 1000 clutter items that force you to pay money for inventory.

Which is why i say they should fully embrace the p2w so that the leeches can leave and us paying players can have a good time.

You aren't judging the issue based on what's good for the game and what's good game design ethics, but rather on your prejudice about people that are bringing up an issue that may involve money. Some may have spent some money on the game (you'd be surprised), and some may have other things in mind than their own gains (like, what's best for the game, and what's decent business practices), and that's why you are being viewed as a white knight.

1) Put in 5 bucks. These items are the primary revenue stream for the game.

2) If you are concerned with the saturation of items in the game you can always consolidate your wealth and essences. Other people have brought up reasonable suggestions for inventory expansion due to changing game mechanics like having a small 6 slot belt to carry scrolls alchs, etc for in world item modification (boxes/essences). That's reasonable to ask for, because the game has changed and small quality of life changes need to follow. Not full on give us more tabs. Also you won't sell anything with a 5x4 tab.

I am concerned about the welfare of the game, and setting dangerous precedences in the name of satisfying the short term goals of greedy people who do not think about the actual game longevity. If you give people free tabs, or upgrade them what stops them from asking for more? Don't act like it won't happen, there will always be a reason in their mind why they who have contributed nothing must have everything presented to them.

Also when you finish a league all your items stay in Remove only tabs forever unless you take it out, why exactly do you need more space?

I mean it all comes down to effort, I was perfectly fine without these features. I will never support people who would try to turn this game into another fremium shithouse which you are doing.

I agree with you, but the term was used by the almighty Ageless_Imperion who looks at people's profiles to determine who can have an opinion and who can't. It wasn't really good. Diablo 3 died a long time ago, for a wide variety of reasons each individually able to strike the killing blow. Blizzard wised up a little bit at some point and made a major improvement, but it wasn't close to being enough. Really, the only excuse for Diablo 3 to have lasted as long as it did was Blizzard's notoriety in the game industry--they can vomit just about anything onto the shelves and people will buy it, play it, complain about how much it sucks, and not buy anything else because they don't know how to find better games.

Path of Exile is a better game and a lot of people don't know how to find it, but as you can clearly see by the existing population trend, it's living strong. PoE is taking a very player-oriented style, giving players the tools and letting them figure out what to do with them. Players have a need to trade, so they set up trade operations. This gets people busy. Nobody knows for certain what a thing is worth, and it's subject to change, so lots of players work hard trying to determine the value of goods.

EVE Online, also a better game, uses a similar highly-player-driven setup. That game is past its ten year mark and running strong. Only in recent years has its population even started to decline, and given the size of the game galaxy that's probably a good thing for now. It was getting a bit crowded.

Diablo 3 felt like a good game to casual players lacking experience playing any great games. Diablo 3 offered solutions, not problems. Diablo 3 made you feel like you were winning, until you realized that everyone was winning and you hadn't really accomplished anything noteworthy. But Path of Exile is a better game because it gives you problems, and you solve them. It keeps you busy solving problems, which is important because slaughtering monsters gets old quick if there's no problems to solve along the way.

One thing I very dislike are premium stash tab. This is just one thing too much.
I can see them seeling stash tabs to be fine. But making a deal out of the fact that you can actually name your tabs is pretty outrageous. Just my opinion.

I've got about ~23 stash tabs by now and it feels somewhat necessary to be able to store good items and sell them at some point. But to me it just should be possible to name those tabs even without paying extra for it. It'd be around 33$ to upgrade those tabs to premium and be able to name them. Incredible.

If you really want to play this game, I can't see any way in doing that enjoyable without buying stash tabs. And that's fine... PoE needs to be financed in some way, and stash tabs are probably a very lucrative way in doing so. But premium stash tabs just shouldn't exist. That should be included in stash tabs anyway. It's just annoying, because once you got many stash tabs, you are VERY likely to buy premium stash tabs, because it's was too unorganized without them.

If it would be a once-time payment I'd maybe be ok with it. Like, 10$ and all your current and future tabs will be premium stash tabs.

Right know I just deal with the chaos I have. I just don't see me paying lots of money to name my tabs.
