Baldur's Gate II is the absolute winner for me.
Among the latest, I can mention Mass Effect 2. It was really engaging. Diablo II, if you talk about action RPGs, of course. And some honorable mentions: Planescape: Tormant and Anachronox. They are fabulous but too "alternative". |
