GGG, why have you nerfed endgame map XP so hard?

I think the entitlement argument is quite poor. With Ascendancy and how cheap items are, GGG basically is providing resistance where the minimum floor of a character had been raised so high. It's actually idiotic. You can't "raise the bar" and them relegate your customers to suboptimal content. That sounds awful as a plan to retain future customers.

I can see your point, but the fact is: Every single piece of content is "suboptimal" after you reach, what, level 83? (Per definition). I can understand the longing for harder content, more available, level appropriate content and so on - but the "hunt" for level 100, which is just a freakin' number, I do not understand.

As I understand it, level 100 will be the cap in all foreseeable future - even "when" more acts get introduced. More content, easier to hit level 100. It's kind og "not meant" to level that long, but it IS possible - if you dedicate the time.

So, again, I see NO problem - what so ever - regarding the time you have to spend.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Now people have more excuses to not go past 90, it's good for the game.

Not sure if sarcasm or...

Why would this be good for the game? Are people more likely to roll a second character than quit? What about a third character? I personally hate leveling from scratch except right at the start of a league (rerolling sucks for me; I've done it so many times at this point that it's more of a chore than anything else). I'd like to see more options for endgame, more ways to progress a character and strive for 100 without feeling like I'm wasting my time. The xp changes (made to curb probably less than the top 1%) and the fact that the most efficient way to endgame level is to grind the same high mid-tier maps over and over (boring!) makes me wonder what I'm doing here.

A game should have goals that are unreasonable. In D2 we called them "grails". You hope someday to maybe complete one, but they weren't short term goals that you could actually work for... they just kind of happened eventually.

100 should be a grail. You shouldn't say "ok... this week I'm going to get to 100." It should be something that happens over the course of playing the game if you play it enough.

It shouldn't happen in a 3 month tourney without massive levels of support and commitment.
totally agree with you OP. what is your deal GGG? what if ppl can reach 100 easily? I am a new player and I want to do it too. why do you restrict me from doing it? what is the reasoning behind it?
because when your character become too strong (around 92+),you turn in a awful-bad-unfaithful-lying-terrorist-killer-thief,a very bad person in the eyes of GGG....so,u have to be punished 3 times : map xp nerf, map drop nerf and xp penalty on death....
it is so simple to understand and we have to thank GGG tryin' so hard to make us good people again.....

have fun (but not above lvl92 and t10 maps..ok?)

In earlier leagues I enjoyed leveling after 92. I even got one character to 97. It took quite a while, but the point was I enjoyed doing the end game maps looking at my XP slowly growing, while keeping a keen eye on the loot. Now, I know that the loot, i.e. the 84 items are not worth my keen eye, since lab ruined 84 marked and gem marked when we're at it. So... back to it, I'm doing a t15 because?

Now they just need to make acuity and Atziri's Disfavour drop in lab chests, and we can all be robots speed running that all day. Speed run lab, speed run gorge. What fun.

100% agree ... !!! now, playing for xp is no fun anymore above lvl 90 .... and, also if lvl 100 should not be a goal for everybody,if u don t play for xp,wat are u playin' for?...that s my point for now and i hope it will change soon because i am realy crazy about that game.....hope they finaly add something great for end game...difficult,challenging and REWARDING....

have fun

If it was easy to get to 100, they would have to design the game based on the idea that all characters were level 100 (kind of like WoW does). Then, 100 wouldn't be a "bonus", it would become a requirement. Currently, you're not "required" to get to 100. Nothing in the game even assumes you're much over 85. It's called a soft cap. Most players like it that way.
It's imo okay to make lvl90+ extremely grindy. Just not through the imbalanced and improper way it is implemented for years now.
Maps are very imbalanced and having to spend currency to run maps is also something I personally really hate. And then as an added bonus we have to mathematically calculate everything all the time (they made the math easier with packsize and all but it's still very complicated and annoying)...

Why would I go from 90->100 if it just requires me to figure out what maps are broken this league and what mods may be imbalanced again and calculating my xp penalty and spending currency on rolling/buying maps and etc. Leveling 90 --> 100 always costs more than you get back (when solo) and feels unrewarding for just a few passives and gives me a bad feeling every time I complete a high tier map but get no maps in return. It kills the fun fast and hard for me.

Some maps simply are known for having crap return-values and other maps are just broken xp-wise (total xp or xp/hour) and a few leagues back we even had to calculate the optimal mods for each map (god that was terrible, all those spreadsheets).

Personally I just try to get 36-40 challenges and I'm done, I don't care about mapping because the whole mapping mechanic itself is just absolutely terrible to me personally.

Anyone remembers speed-running unrolled T1 maps for max xp/hour? Anyone remember the massive spreadsheets for rolling T11+ maps? Anyone remembers the Shipyard map having an epic return value due to breakables? Anyone remembers the lvl 77 volcano giving less total XP than map many tiers lower? Anyone remembers that feeling when you just ran 5x 100+iiq T13-15 map and not a single map > T8 dropped? And now the T8 maps seems to be unbalanced. And the map-tiers are still total nonsense because lower tier maps can still give better xp than higher tier maps, It's not just the T8 maps. I hate it all... Everything about the mechanic feels unrewarding and it involves too much math (aka finding the imbalance again). I'm so tired of it!

I'd like to seen infinite maps, maps that scale with level, maps that do not require currency to roll/run, maps that feel rewarding no matter the drops. And a better LFG/LFM system. I'd like to see an endgame system that can keep us hooked without throwing in challenges with 'trophies' to keep us playing. The grind to lvl100 must be fun. Please?

I love how all the people saying grind to 100 is fine so adamantly have never gotten to lvl 100. Ironic.
