Congrats on lvl 100.

Also, as you sounds like a rational person - can I ask you how do you think game will be improved, maintained, new content added, or even lets just consider server running cost... if all rational people think like you?

You really can stand behind your choice to not spend any money on the game you like so much and play 100s of hours?

Well. RPG games generally work on what psychologists call 'operand conditioning'.

Operand conditioning in the context of POE works by projecting a certain reward players can envision such that the player can easily foresee getting it but not easily practically get it. This can work both positively or negatively. A well calculated player can estimate how much he has to put into it and decide whether to hunt for the reward or quit the game completely. A poorly calculated player can be led to play out of belief and ragequit only in the very end. Examples are people aiming for level 100 and people aiming for a Shavronne wrappings drop.

Which is why GGG will not implement level 120 nor Paragon level anytime soon because people who see the reward as too distant will quit instead of play on. GGG has to be the angel to make the game fun for all of us to play but also the devil to ensure its own survival. We have seen how pure angel companies like THQ and Westwood collapsed which was undeserved for.

The trick to designing a good RPG game is to balance between operand conditioning and sophistication as close to the average intelligence of the population as possible. Why is that so? Highly intelligent people can decide whether the rewards are justifiable or not while those who are not that shrewd need more operand conditioning to tease them on. Which is why games like Dota will always live.

What GGG can do is to diversify the game a bit so that players who have already given up on the game due to various reasons still would like to stay for the other distractions this game can offer. Take example, simply copy Dota into this game. (This is also the only way to revive PVP in this game) Players use their hard earned gears and character to play Dota and the monsters killed offer slightly less experience. Therefore,

Maps + PVP = Dota

The only downside I see to this is that it will take GGG a lot of effort to implement considering how small they are as a company.

Good post but I don't know about intelligence (trust me on that haha). Just don't have ego and you'll be happy and play game on your own terms.

you pay money, you get gameplay advantage

one major goal of players is to get good gear,
some good gear costs alot of orbs,

orbs are easy to get by selling
more stash tabs = more things possible to sell

stash tabs = pay to win
no getting around the fact...

You don't get an advantage, you get QOL. You can have infinite stash tabs in this game without paying a dime.

Again it comes down to your definition of winning at this game.
If good gear is p2w, you can pay for QOL to make it easier.
If getting to lvl 100 is winning, you don't need to pay a cent.

E: Gratz Peng, I don't have the patience to reach 100 :)

Disagree. Time is orbs in this game. If he spends 15 min a map organizing while I'm dropping them into AH tabs in 1 min I farm 2-3 more maps in addition to selling more due to the way sales work. A numbers game, with more offered more will get nicked. But I don't think you have to pay to get anywhere OP proves it. Thats kinda what makes his achievement so awesome.

As for mine, I run Stone of Lazhwar with +1 curse to support enfeeble and another curse, followed by Aegis Aurora and Tempest Shield to give me near maximum block. I have all 8 Scion Ascendancy passsive skillpoints and invested half of them into Marauder start for bonus HP to make my HP 6000 while the other half goes into gladiator to bring out the maximum block build. The most important element to make a maximum block Scion comes from a highly undervalued unique item:

With this, my damage mitigation has a total of 8 layers-Lightning coil-enfeeble-armor-maximum block-high HP-fortify-Taste of hate-Endurance charges. If you have more expensive gears than I do, you can actually squeeze out another layer of damage mitigation-Mind over matter. This is how I managed to reach level 100 on a budget build.

this, i like. thanks.
nice work

Gratz! I didn't see this post; been busy in new league.
Censored.
Congrats Deadpeng. I have no idea why so many morons on this thread have to antagonize you about your relationship with your parents. I am also asian and completely understand where you are coming from. Ignore the fools that can't understand how cultural differences affect relationships between children and their parents.

To be completely honest, I have friends that are extremely rude and yell at their parents and I want to punch them in the mouth for their lack of respect....but then again that's just me.

Regardless congrats on hitting 100...so the real question...now that you are 100 what is next your next POE challenge you are trying to overcome?

Deadpeng, I would like to know more about how you optimized your looting, and how you chose which maps to run?
