The reason I probally won't play the next xpac

While I agree that reflect is outdated, I don't know how you would replace it. Take it away and all those builds being held back by reflect lets in a huge power creep wave. There should be something in place - to specifically keep crit builds from being the end of all things high dps.

Yeah I know you can rip to RT reflect and stuff too, I've done it hundreds of times with my EQ duelist this league. However, when I'm not trying to no life for challenges and play at my preferred casual pace, I never died to reflect, even with my crit builds. It hurt like a bitch but I could also pot back the health or regen es by the next mob group.

I don't like it because if a map is % physical or elemental reflect and my current build does either or enough of both, the map is too much of a pain and it is rerolled, however, there would need to be something equally as terrifying albeit fairer (avoiding offscreen reflect rips and such) to replace it.

I was able to migitate almost all damage from reflect - mind you the normal reflect you encounter on single rare mobs and not the Map mod reflect.

Considering you have to roll a map mod to even have reflect capable of wiping your character , im not sure i see the issue. You say the problem is reflect , but i imagine the problem is grief with the chaos damage nerf. Because of it , you may have to contend with a game mechanic you have been able to bypass so far and if that is the case , you should simply say so.

Whether or not Reflect is good or bad is very subjective. its a really old game mechanic and exists at the top of the food chain so to speak for a reason.
They need to nerf life leech too.

There are 2 groups of people here that vote for reflect:
1) Chaos converters - since they arent affected by reflect they boast the most, well this thread got many "upvotes" to remove reflect comparing to older ones, mostly because of the annouced nerf to chaos damage.

2)Extreme life leech builds with instant life leech - its second mechanic after chaos that can counter reflect damage. It basicaly say to steal more life than you get reflect dmg. Though I doubt it would work for my build since I can crit myself for over 4k in just one hit on one mob (or even more and I dont even have expensive gear).


Reflect damage and life leech mechanic are the worst mechanics in every game possible.

Reflect damage is basicaly killing you for being stronger, counter intuitive, not possible to counter with anything but other broken mechanism. No player skill involved here. Lazy choice of developer.

Life leech is basicaly giving load of defense for players with load of offense. Way to much "free stats" with so small amount of investment. I liked that GGG nerfed it and added more stats and now in order for it to be good, you need to invest. Still the nodes that give instant life leech are braeking the game. They should give bigger drawbacks to them like -20% less maximum life and ES or so. The current drawbacks are way to small, I mean super small comparing to what it gives in exchange.

How I deal with reflect damage when I dont one-shot myself off-screen and have time to react? I just spawn a totem to do the work for me.

instant leech should be removed ENTIRELY from the game

reflect is a 'soft' cap for builds and while dated it prevents some people from running 2k hp characters in T10 maps and calling these abominations 'builds'

some still try to do so.. and im happy they are repeatedly sent back to town
For what it is worth - i preferred reflect auras.

It was more tactical and far far far more visible - it made me feel far less like "poof where did i go? how?" You had options - you could draw away and kill to avoid aoe suicide.

I also think life leech was nerfed a tad too much, and in particular i think spellleech is just a plain joke and needs big boosts. You generally can't get spellleech enough to sustain vs reflect in the infinite. Even if you have tons of aura points and purity aura level 23 etc, i think even a leech gem it wont be enough.

That's ridiculous.

I also think map reflect values are too high - i think all map values are generally too high it goes out of control and makes it impossible to have a good progression/balance in game.

I played the current race and for most part of map modding I got maps I couldn't do because most maps I modded got reflect on them. I think the reflect should be a more random scale not just set at the percentages its at. Then at least it wont destroy a map pool that someone has and can still keep it somewhat challenging.

Reflect is just incredibly stupid, one of the main reasons I quit the game. It is so fktartded to have to use a bow as a spell caster. It's one of the many stupid things about this game. The really sad thing is, these issues can be fixed by even a half-dimwit if some time was spent on it instead of the lab.

good mechanic imo... dps isn´t the only thing in the game.
Check your defenses or avoid reflect.
Cut down on your crit multi.
