I really dont get it.. I mean maybe im am doing it wrong.. I mean i do notice i dont have the clear speed others do on some of my builds BUT i also NEVER have issues with reflect unless i start to stack alot of penetration or am running a pure Phys damage build with little to no extra end charges or armour.. Between Purity's, Flasks, Leech, and WM.. Reflect almost doesnt exist. Hell on alot of my 2-3 spell COC builds and builds where i run phys and elemental spells/ skills that i swap between i can run reflect maps. even crit builds i have found ways to handle reflect by manipulating mechanics that exist for these reasons. The only reflect ive found that i cant run in maps is when i happen to roll BOTH reflect on a map.. which has happened more than once upon corruption.. Those suck.. BUT i also have an RF build capable of doing those maps if im super careful since i achieved 100% Fire res making me immune to my own damage. so even those reflect mods together CAN be done. Is it hard? is it rippy as fuck? HELL YEAH! but possible.
But Reflect exists for one reason and one reason only.. To make you think.. to make the player consider this mechanic and having to run into it while playing and making the player work some form of mitigating it into the build which theres TONS of ways to mitigate it. The best ways ive found and easiest ways is the Witch flask nodes with the flask corresponding to your damage type. And if that isnt enough theres also purity's auras and if that still isnt enough start working in leech, if that STILL isnt enough then the MF flasks isnt ONLY good for MF.. thats another +4 (+6 if legacy) to ALL max res. Sure ALOT of these things will in turn mean less damage because you are running these in place of damage modifiers but thats the point of reflect.. so everyone isnt running around with 2K life and nothing but damage nodes and auras.. and it works. Its not a dated mechanic.. Its a mechanic that exists is pretty much ever single ARPG ive ever played. And typically exists for the same reason in every single game.. to make the player use defensive mechanics in place or adjust the character's stats or damage type to deal with it. "Thinking is a dated mechanic. Apparently. Guild Leader The Amazon Basin <BASIN> Play Nice and Show Some Class www.theamazonbasin.com Last edited by mark1030#3643 on May 21, 2016, 11:25:20 AM

Leech is a thing that exists.

I remember ironmaiden curse in diablo2, it was pain for melee.
Current reflect is joke compared to reflect aura in the past. I don´t like that mechanic though. I would replace it with DoT and change VP not being instaleech. Last edited by Rakiii#5559 on May 21, 2016, 12:00:33 PM

" Yeah this seems to hold true in alot more than just video games as well.. Critical Thinking isnt for everyone i suppose. ALOT of the complaints i see on these forums as of late seem to be mostly made up of people who don't wish to think beyond their own ideas. People dont realize theres many different ways to play the game and many different reasons people play. And simply removing or changing things for the sake of people who dont want to try to understand them or dont want to be bothered to try and figure out ways to work around them isnt going to help in fact in most cases its just going to dull the game that much more. Theres a reason for everything. And theres always a way to deal with problems some just take a little more consideration and thought than others. Problem Solving.. it works! and its something everyone should try to be better at every chance they get. in Games and IRL. There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation. " I've invested immense amounts of time into creating builds that can survive reflect :/ I would like to check if you play HC, make your profile public please. Also, iron maiden was removed from d2, because it was widely considered broken... 7 years ago... Last edited by Insticator#7670 on May 21, 2016, 1:46:40 PM

Yep. Has been said over and over - only thing it does is limiting build diversity for no goddamn reason.
It looks like half the player base would like to keep it that way, though. Another one of those mysteries ... |

"What build diversity does it limit? The ones where you don't build a character that's balanced enough to counteract your own damage type? Every build can handle reflect if you build it correctly. Guild Leader The Amazon Basin <BASIN>

" Re-iterating non-sense doesn't make it less non-sensical. I'm sorry, shouldn't even have commented here. I'm tired of this kind of discussion. If you really want arguments (which I somehow doubt) have a look at the other 9000 reflect threads. o/ |
