Game is too fast.

I agree that the game is too fast.

You can still have high paced combat when monsters have high HP, just by being forced to dodge attacks and positioning. This can be felt when you fight Izaro with a character that has not outleveled the area. These battles can be very fun and exciting. Currently the way it works is that, strong ranged builds, barely have any interaction with any monsters at all. They off-screen 90% of them. This is just weird game design. It is mostly a result of the power-creep that has occurred over the years, while monster HP stayed the same (monster damage did go up). This kind of promotes a glass cannon kind of playstyle, especially in sofcore.

In my opinion, monster damage spread could be downtuned slightly (it can be very erratic and spiky), while HP should scale more rapidly with map tiers (outside maps its fine). Increased experience gain and drops would be needed to compensate for the slower clearspeed. With these changes, you would actually gain more per red map, while you are forced to play smarter (more interaction with monsters). Ranged would actually be forced to kite, something that rarely happens. I really don't see why this would be bad, as it requires actual gameplay and skill.
game isn't too fast, it's too easy. if you can 1shot a screen at at time, there's no point in making a build that deals more damage. it doesn't improve anything. the only thing you can improve is the screens/second kill counter.

i tried out my own version of one of these builds, and fucking frankly it made me question why i even bother playing poe. run, shoot -> everything dies offscreen, run, shoot -> everything dies offscreen... the only things that even got VISIBLE on my screen before dying were rares with tanky mods and some map bosses. not all of them, just some.

at this point (assuming you can handle reflect rares, because those are the only thing that'll ever even remotely touch you) playing clickers is more engaging than running maps in poe.
[s]only mindless sheep think labyrinth is OK to have in PoE.[/s]
okay nevermind labyrinth, fix dx9 blackscreen instead...
Agree with OP.

However I am not sure the fix is as easy as just tuning down attack speed and movement speed. To me it seems GGG has made so many skills, uniques and buffs (Ascendancy classes, frenzy charge etc.) that it hard to just pin-point one single problem.

Just played the 2-week event and it struck me the only challenge I had was vs. beyond mobs, warbands (generals especially) and tough Perandus mobs. And that is within first 2 days of a league with crap gear. After that even these enemies become trivial :( Not even to mention map bosses dying within 2-3 seconds. In many maps the map boss does not even feel like a boss. Hard to tell them from trash mobs :(

I am glad we have a fast paced game. It should be fast but it has gone to far for sure. The game has become to easy, fast and to be honest slightly boring as well :(

I cannot think of any solutions though besides a shit ton of tweaking on more or less all stats in the game which isn't to far from starting over, which is just not gonna happen. I just don't see how we can get out of this problem :( :(

Agree with OP...

Game is too easy. One Shot everything, one shot offscreen. Super fast geared up with 1ex Gear.
Lvl 90 in two Days. This has nothing to do with the "old" PoE. Its for the "masses", for the Casual Players.

There are no scary Moments for me in HC anymore, rush through the Maps... new Map... rush through the Map. That gets boring really fast.
Anyone remember the old times with "2 Exiles in the Map"? Oh my good, i was scary and watch where they are. Today Exiles are a Joke, sometimes i kill them and dont see it.^^

GGG only buffed the Player Damage side, no adjustments on the Monster Damage side.
I want Challenges in this Game, i want to be scary from T1 Maps and not "when u want Challenge play T15 Maps with 5k Mods on it". That show, that this is not the old PoE with Challenge beginning with T1 Maps anymore.

But... i can understand GGG... PoE is popular this Times and more Player are more Money...Casuals wouldnt play the old PoE because its too difficult and thats the Problem many Games have and i can understand the Company GGG.

The Future for me play PoE Seasons is not grinding two Months to gear up some Chars and play High Maps... play two Weeks and after that i am done with the Seasons, because u get the Goals so fast.

P.S: Not written the complete broke Chaos Damage Mechanic, Players lvl to lvl100 with T9 Maps.
All to easy, too fast. Too Casual. Not the Challenge aRPG from the Past.

P.S II: And on the Top the average 2.2 Patch with horrible Labyrinth. The Game goes too the wrong Direction.

I don't know about too easy, with all the one-shotting going on, but definately too fast.

GGG is trying to introduce combo skills, like Frostbolt with Ice Nova/Vertex. But the game is simply too fast for that. Having to click twice simply halves your clear speed. That's also the main reason why we see so few remote mine users.

If the game stays this fast, tactical positioning / combo skills / prepare for fights / ... will only decline further and further.

They won't solve the 1-click rush meta with new combo skills, but by slowing down everything... .

FFS stop these ridiculous "help me, game is too fast!" posts.

This is fucking annoying guys.

If you want slow game - YOU go play SOLO and play at your own pace.

There is NOTHING stopping you from playing PoE slowly paced.

You are trying to ruin other people's fun and to that I say fuck off. Game is WAY more exciting fast paced. Did you see GGG's Guardian showcase vid? Soooo COOL.

???

I always play solo. I dont get what are you trying to say.

The game is fucking fast even in solo.

EDIT: And i'm talking even if i had never done a super uber focused attack speed build, like the buzzsaw for example, which can clear a map in one minute, thanks to whirling blades and other things.
This problem was born a lot before this patch. But the ascendancy took it to the limit.

I hate that the game is becoming too flashy and full of effects, where you dont understand nothing. If I have to play a similar stupid game, then there's already D3, that even has insane numbers. I dont need any feel of greatness coming from the game with these crazy speed and effects that overlaps, like you guys seems to do.
Path of Exile was studied to be an intelligent game, where you had to be careful in any single thing you do, starting from the build plan. If the game is so fast, you cant be careful.

Disagree:

-Mobs have already too much life (this can be feeled expecially if "you" are hitting them with elemental-projectile spells)

-Players need their speed, for reasons like too little exp gained, coupled with poor high tier map drops

Actually, the mob's life is acceptable only on red maps. In yellow maps they are shotted offscreen.

Of course players need speed: i didnt say that they don't. I'm just saying that the speed that we now see is insane, it simply shouldn't exist the possibility to reach this fastness.

Many builds doesn't have offscreen capabilities at all....
In a nutshell, not everyone plays crit bow or crit spark :/
I don't think the game is at the point it's too fast yet. It's close but it still took two and a half days for the first 100 in the two week. Once we start getting 100's within 24 hours then yes it's time to look into the speed issue.

Speed of leveling to 100 and speed of the game are two different things.
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

Don't get me wrong I understand that, I also understand that they are somewhat related...

Either way, trolling the white knight brigade is the only thing stopping me from hanging myself from the boredom of 1 button full screen clear over and over.

Time to slow down and gimp a character with a non-chaos converted build, get 1 shotted repeatedly, and never progress I guess. Or maybe I'll go put my nutsack in a blender because both sound just as appealing.
