What is the mod that makes monsters you kill turn into ball lightning totems?

The high damage comes from the fact that you got shocked and took 50% more damage from all sources, plus whatever modifiers the map already had.

If you got killed by it in HC then there are a couple of things wrong in your approach and anyone who has been playing PoE for a while can tell you this.

A single ball lighting totem will not instantly kill you. So you must have killed several of them and remained on the spot where you've killed them. Even non-HC players know to be careful around magic monsters with a bloodline mod and not to remain in the area.

So why did you get killed, really?

Wtf are you talking about of course it matters.

No it wouldn't have my hp went from one to 0 instantly it would have done the same thing to any hp. No reaction time and no skill involved at all. The difference between .001 seconds and .002 in 'survivability' wouldn't matter at all double life would have died just as quick.

Playing hardcore and using Endurance Charges? Check.

Using Cast When Damage Taken setup up with Immortal Call? Ch...wait...

UM... For your next character try this:

CWDT - Immortal Call - Increased Duration

^ $100 says you would have survived.

IC only prevents physical damage. He died to ball lightning. Ball lightning is elemental damage. IC would've done absolutely nothing to stop the incoming damage.

I'll take that 100$ now tyvm
[s]only mindless sheep think labyrinth is OK to have in PoE.[/s]
okay nevermind labyrinth, fix dx9 blackscreen instead...

Touche'... completely forgot about that.

Totems from blue packs are fine. Easy to avoid.

Especially in an indoors area, narrow corridor/cavern, maybe with some rocks or still-alive monsters blocking your escape route and line-of-sight showing you can happily warp/leap/whirl into a nearby wall...

Yeah such easy.
Much woof.

Not checking BL mods in HC is a serious gameplay flaw, especially for melee. Ball lighting totems are dangerous, yes, but they can be played around. The worst game "feature" for cyclone / melee is still volatile blood, which cannot be played around, other then by skipping.

Most sketchy situations I've ever found myself in, were my fault. Not properly reading box affixes (DD anyone?), not checking BL/NEM mods (CB stacks piling up), feeling cocky or "totally safe"...

Yeah, it was a ton of them and the amount of ball lightning they all release the instant they were up was ridiculous. When I say instant it was instant or I wouldn't be leaving feedback. It was at least 7+. I don't even kno what type of monster brought them, it was very small and fast and they all died instantly. It would have been great if I could have had a chance to read their mods, 'I love' the Oregon Trail like reading we are supposed to do in a ARPG where most normal monsters are under tuned health wise and die instantly for the the ADD crowd who like to clear maps in 2 min.

It would be great if instead of reskinning the same monster only changing effects we actually had different types so we had a visual of what to avoid. The whole archaic oregon trail reading shit is a bit stupid imo. Although a lot of you seem to think this is in someway HC. I personally think most of you play bow/ranged characters and one hit everything from as far away as possible so it doesn't matter. I guess kind of like currency only stacking so high and other retarded shit that no one likes in video games this is supposed to be in someway 'HC'.

Some of you need help heh.

Yeah, adjust the dmg on that shit.

Stuff like that just completely ruins HC. It turns the game into a mere numbers of chance where eventually you are going to run into that and it's going to instagib you no matter how good your defenses are or how fast you react to it with instant health pots or try running away.

I had 3600hp, 1k~es, 9% hp regen, 7 end charges up, enfeeble on blasph @ 50%~ inc cursed effectiveness, perfect resist, and great gear:

and instantly died on a lowbie tier 4 newb map with no dmg inc mods fighting the boss. Some monster joined the fight and I am melee and my AoE instantly kills them and the boss dies at same time and they turn into ball lightning totems which instantly kill me. When I say instant I mean instant...The totems are fuckin OP dmg and completely unfair to melee. I swear this game is go bow or go to another game.

You guys really need to have a comprehensive look at instagib garbage in your game and either adjust it so skill actually comes into play for survival or take the shit out. I absolutely love the majority of this game but I keep constantly running into mechanics that kill you instantly and it just completely turns me off from the game and makes me look for other games that actually require skill to survive and are rewarding and fun to play. I quit again before perandus after being instantly killed by volatile blood and then bearers in HC talisman after coming back from a year hiatus again due to instagib shit back then and decided to give the game a try again since you guys FINALLY made visible notifications to bloodline mods and the others that can instantly kill you. The dmg from the ball lightning needs to be toned down a lot. At least it has a visual indicator now so you can just do a typical "path of just skip it" if you even have time to see the mobs.

Gonna quit again and check out that new ARPG everyone has been talking about lately and read the patch notes on this one to see if you guys ever change your instakill mechanics and overtuned mess. What a great game otherwise but just ruined by stupid small things.

Heralds of the Obelisk. It can be seen on Magic (blue... actually purple now, so they can be easily spotted... welp.) monsters. If you rush without look at anything - you'll die, just like you did.

It is actually well designed to kill people who rush the game too much. :V
It does take skill to deal with these. Just read what it says on the monster pack. Oh, it is too small or too fast? Welp, what can I tell you - game outplayed you. Seems fair to me.

Another one bites the dust

Here's an crazy idea - don't kill them? Lol. Not like you're getting them in every single blue mob.

Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.

It was heralds of the obelisk, You made the mistake of not checking affixes and it got you killed, That amount of HP would just barely be ok in SC and it would still lead to a lot of oh shit moments. With an extra 1k+ HP it would've given you enough time to react and pot up while you got away, You died because of YOUR mistakes learn from it and reroll.

The ball lighting heralds aren't even the nastiest imo, Try turbo'd lightning warp totems following you forever because 1 of the pack wandered off
