Should I be a scammer?
I fully support the idea of all scammers being permanently banned if their involvement is 100% proven, but unfortunately GGG are the only ones who can actually do this since only they have the logs, and they don't care in most cases, and in other they actively help the scammers (negative feedback deletion on forum)
That said, I am going to blow your mind here - you don't actually need to be in a party to trade! Shocking, isn't it? I am surprised people don't know about this. a) Don't accept or give party requests b) Add the other player to your friends list c) He can enter your hideout if you set an appropriate permission, but he can't enter any portals since he's not in your party OR, as morbo suggested, just wall off map device before such trades. the game doesn't provide the means to control offerred services in a way that you get paid after you did the service or you have to pay after you used a service.
if the game mechanics don't support a certain prcedure you have in mind, you can't rely on that procedure. the only secure way to sell a cadiro sale is to buy it yourself and sell it later. --- you don't have to invite players into a party to be able to trade. it's sufficient you're in the same instance. edit: apparently being on the friends list or in a party is essential to get into the same game instance. some players abused your lacking knowledge of game mechanics, which is bad but no reason to demand that ggg should employ whole auckland to watch it's million players behaving "good". age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! I've never scammed, but GGG has made their position quite clear: they fully allow scamming and will change your name to enable it if you build up too much of a reputation. The one post they've ever made saying otherwise was the one quoted in this thread, which goes against several years of allowing and enabling scammers.

Like I said many times...
GGG allows it to happen, and people will take advantage of it. And evidently that's a LOT of fucking people in this fucking game. We just had a clown fiesta thread of a scammer getting his account back safe and sound after proven to be a scammer, he even take it as far as posting screenshots of himself scamming people and got away with it AFTER all the shitstorm he started himself. So to do it or not it's entirely up to you. Since GGG technically treat scammers as "regular players RPing the shady guys". More likely you will just get a warning like "lol bro sthap it" from GGG and the worst that could happen is slapped on the wrist and that's it. Also create alt accounts if you don't want your rep ruined... and you will be fine. Actually I heard GGG even changed player names for them because they were being called out on scammers watch of some kind. Using alt account also completely 100% nullify of any temporary suspension due to "investigation", if you want, but unless you exploit the game at code level, you should never get banned for scamming. The Mr. Clown Fiesta proved it for us. The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change. Welcome to PoE. Last edited by Pewzor#2343 on Mar 24, 2016, 7:46:18 AM

If you generate enough reports you can be locked out whilst an investigation takes place but from what i can ascertain you wont get banned by just scamming only if your involved in other actual bannable offences - see RMT or account sharing.
Its really easy to not get scammed guys - engage your brain and it wont happen more than once. |

They could add a setting in mapping like they have with drops, allowing the player who opens the map to set it so only he can buy an item in the map until the player changes the setting. Someone can look in the shop at the item but are unable to buy it until the original owner of the map changes the setting to allow him to buy it. this prevents anyone else buy sneaking in and buying the item before you can stop them. They pay you and you change the setting to let them make the purchase. There will still be people who will and can abuse this too but showing an item getting paid and not changing the settings but at least then you can post screan shots of the convo and exchange.
