Crafting Maps Is Really, Not Fun
If your build is good:
" If your build is not as good: " If you use more currency to roll maps than you get form it you need to uprade your build ot be able to run harder maps. " using orbs on maps is generating random maps. "Is there such a thing as an absolute, timeless enemy? There is no such thing, and never has been. And the reason is that our enemies are human beings like us. They can only be our enemies in relative terms." Last edited by kamil1210#5432 on Mar 24, 2016, 4:14:27 AM

You do know that the flexibility of the skill and gear system practically screams at you to adjust your build for the different map mods?
Yes if you expect to run every map with the same setup your build choice is more limited, but that gets much bigger if you change things around depending on the mpas. E.g. reflect maps are trivial if you adjust your phys/ele mix and defensive auras appropriately. Also, with all the build options don't you have different toons built to handle the different mods? As I roll maps I stick some of them on one side of the stash or the other if they are a gift to one toon and harder on another. Map mods should be building diversity and flexibility in your mapping toons. If you are serious about running maps have a couple of good map runners that can actually run them without crying. Of course you can build toons that will struggle and die. That is your choice not a deficiency in the map system. |

Just build a toon with chaos damage to eat up all the leftovers. If you don't have to spam chaos orbs that much usually you get more than you invest in your maps. I feel like it's way more annoying to sustain the pool than rolling them. And the new zana is helping a lot even in that regard. For an Emperor to be just, an Emperor must be patient.

Crafting maps is a chore?
In what universe? [s]only mindless sheep think labyrinth is OK to have in PoE.[/s]
okay nevermind labyrinth, fix dx9 blackscreen instead... |

" I don't know if "chore" is the right word choice here. Maybe saying "crafting maps can be tedious" would have been more correct. If I just want to have fun, I might not log onto path to run high level maps because...drum roll...sometimes it isn't fun. I know that's shocking, but sometimes it just isn't fun to run 78 maps at 100+% and get no returns for them beyond the thrill of saying "Hah! I can do that!". |

If you cant just alch and go.
then you should just try trans->aug->alt until you get two ez mods then regal the last one. Should save you alot of chaos and if you spend the chis you still get some quantity. Still not as good as 4-6 mods you get by just alching but you will be safe and there is less of a currency sink. |

I'm just going to point out that Torchlight 2's map system is about 500x as fun as PoE's... almost entirely because it's 500x less restrictive and chore-like.
People who don't like the Labyrinth are not a minority: Be heard - say you don't like it in your signature. Don't leave complaining about lab to others - GGG needs to see how many people dislike it. Ascendancy must be gated on true ARPG content, not a poorly-crafted internet Legend of Zelda wannabe.

" The whole point of POEs end game is to grind currency to pay for maps to grind currency to play better maps. So just spend 1ex and buy a nice map pack. Trans-aug-alt-regal and go Or Alc-chaos-chaos-chaos-chaos-omg ele reflect and temp chains arrrggg-chaos-Wts T12 map for 6C Roll a T10 alch and go :D What other point is there once you have your gear and there is literally noting to do but grind currency to buy maps to grind currency to buy better maps... Learned that mapping parties are the only way to go, if its a reflect map just let your buddies do all the work. |

" If I get an ele reflect map I can just not run it - Avatar of Fire kind of makes it impossible. I could try totems, but they die too fast. I still vaal my maps - the ones that get ele reflect I have to sell or up-vendor. The problem is not the map crafting (which is too expensive though for getting the interesting mods), but the scarcity of high-level maps. Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

" If top maps were common people would complain that they've completed all the content and that it's boring. With scarcity some content has more value. That said in an ideal world content wouldn't be gated behind artifical scarcity. That said, I don't know what the solution should be for PoE. All my builds /view-thread/1430399
