Noob Question but I really enjoy this build and plan to try it SSF next league. My thoughts were would it be better to help alira for res capping or shall I still take the 2 skills points?
imo, take the skill points

I have a question about your Jade Flask, specifically the Energy Shield leech... my understanding was that the Damage Over Time effect of most spells don't count as Spell Damage for leech effects, am I wrong in that assumption?
Leech can only be applied via actual "hits" which ED lacks completely, however the "leech" that ED is providing is in fact a second modifier on the actual ability itself that makes you REGEN HP based of a % of the damage dealt by the ability.

The jade flask in question here does indeed not provide any increased leech effect what so ever.

This is technically incorrect. ED does hit now, and you can leech from it. ED hits any enemy it pierces, and has a small invisible area of effect hit when the projectile dies (just like fireball). A new ED dot instance is applied to all enemy ED hits, by any mean.

Assuming 0.4% leech and 7000ehp, your ED needs to hit for 175k (tooltip) hit damage to reach a maximum leech instance. This means that as long as you have 0.4% leech and you hit for more than 175k ed HIT damage, you'll leech 2% of your life (or es if CI) per enemy hit with ed (usually 1 per cast) for 5 seconds. This isn't negligible.

Now this isn't a viable way to recover your life/es pool, ED's regen is just way more potent and scale off dot damage, which makes a lot more sense. Just saying you can leech from ed, not that you should actually do it.

Well, you're correct if you have added flat dmg cause unlike Soulrend ED doesn't have an actual on hit dmg without having added flat damage modifiers meaning that technically you can reach 175k hit dmg with ED to reach this suggested leech cap but that would require an extensive amount of modifiers that doesn't actually benefit the build in the end :)

Ultimately, you are correct there is an actual "hit" occuring just that it deals 0 dmg without flat dmg modifiers available from external sources which generally doesn't scale the DoT dmg.
