GhazzyTV - Essence Drain & Contagion (or Bane/Soulrend) Trickster [SC/HC/Uber Elder/Shaper]

Build guide is now updated for 3.10, however I still need PoB updated to double check the trees & PoB links of course.

The following changes have been made:
A blighted Oil section added to the guide
Removed Efficacy from support skills and added Second Wind to the Flame Dash.

Hi, will you also update the video? All the links in the build are not working anymore.

Thank you!

Well, you're correct if you have added flat dmg cause unlike Soulrend ED doesn't have an actual on hit dmg without having added flat damage modifiers meaning that technically you can reach 175k hit dmg with ED to reach this suggested leech cap but that would require an extensive amount of modifiers that doesn't actually benefit the build in the end :)

Ultimately, you are correct there is an actual "hit" occuring just that it deals 0 dmg without flat dmg modifiers available from external sources which generally doesn't scale the DoT dmg.

This is also false, sorry.
Ed reads: Deals (9-433) to (14-649) Chaos Damage
This means it deals about 500 base damage on average per hit at gem level 20. It's difficult to have the initial hit deals ~175k damage and reach the leech cap for a single instance with a single hit, but not incocievable.
This is with only 0.4% leech, a character that uses leech would probably have a few % damage leeched as life, not just a flask mod.
If your hit deals only around 50k damage, you'll be leeching for 2 seconds. For reference, 50k damage is the damage a level 21 ed deals against shaper with a tree, despair, an ed bow and wither.

Anyways. Leech isn't needed since ED already gives you massive uncapped regen, of course. But it'll add a few % of your health pool recovered per second, it's not useless at all.

Edit: I can't quote correctly, apparently ><
Huh. Btw no offence, it doesn't matter anyways. Sorry if I sound picky. Thanks for still reading what's going on in this thread, didn't know you still did.
Gl hf!

Got a question about the differences between ED - Contagion vs Soulrend
Especially for hardcore...

I've watched alot of zizaran guides lately, and he is really in favour of the ED part. And especially hating against Bane....

But I myself have did some league starting with Soulrend (and bane but only used for rares/bosses).
And I find the clearly much smoother because you only have to press 1 button. I know especially if you have lower castspeed it sux. But once you get a bit cast speed it feels more rewarding.

Would love some "pro" insight on this, what exactly the difference is. And where the problems lie with soulrend. As I'm a casual player but lately started to move towards the very end game (high red maps) in hardcore. Unsure if this build has the defense of end game bosses. And which 1 (soulrend or ed) is maybe better after a certain point?
ED-C is 2 skills to clear one or more screens at once. The chain reactions are crazy.

I stand corrected!

Never apologize for being picky, something I think is very important in PoE is to be very precise and accurate with information and being corrected when I state something incorrect is both healthy and good for myself and the community :)

No excuses, thank you <3

Edit:
I usually peak in here and there even more so now that my YouTube is completely fucked over. I will edit all my threads at the top to include a link to a video I made on my secondary channel about that situation if people care. I'm doing everything I can to make sure I keep providing content for everyone.

Sorry to hear about your YT account issues. Could you upload a copy of this build's video to your alternate channel? Or do you think your main channel may be back online within the next few days?
Thx a lot for the guide. Hope you will get back your YT channel anytime soon.

Just a note in the guide: the leveling up process is not as smooth as I'd expect. Looks DoT does not scale very well at the beginning. So, if somebody interested, Tytykiller did a speed run (with all skill points) that can be used for this build. He did the transition to ES+Contagion after Act5 or 6. Full run is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re6CgQzCeWc.

Cheers.
